In Florida, if you rear end someone it is your fault no matter what. You must maintain control of your vehicle reguardless of what the vehicle in front in front of you may be doing. If you rear end them it is your fault period for not maintaining a proper following distance.

I received a ticket. It had a pic of my car in the intersection, the close up of my face and a close up of the license plate. No possible way to defend it.
The camera's here take no pictures of the driver. If they did, and you were identified as the owner of the vehicle, I would have no problem whatsoever with you getting a ticket.
If somebody borrows your car, you know the date and where it was ticketed, so, you have to give the ticket to this person to pay, and make an statement at the Courthouse that he/she was the ticketed person.

Actual guilt or innocence is established through the process afterwards (in court, accepting the fine, etc). Might be one against jamming them, though. Use multiple countermeasures. Polarized plastic over your plates! Be careful!

Previously heard a story from a friend now deceased via third party, that was muttering about aiming photo camera lenses with a 10$ laser pointer during daylight hours in securing to affixed object. Need red sunglasses to see laser beam in daylight, exactly same to glasses carpenters use with rotating laser levels in daylight hours; though red beam visible at night. Investigators covertly uses similar laser beams that picks-up audio off windows/windshields; go figure.
Oh no, wait a minute. We still have the traffic light photo cameras, it's the speeding photo radar that they shelved. Never mind. Still in the same boat! No one seems to make much fuss about the traffic light photo cameras here for some reason. Maybe not that many are getting tickets from them?
I'm not sure why, but British Columbia tried to institute these camera cops and for some reason (thankfully) decided to scrap them after they were installed. Hope you manage to get them defeated there. I think the traffic law breakers should be busted the old fashioned way, by real cops (hmmm, which is more scary, a traffic ticket by photo, or one by a head bustin' cop?). As a police officer, I have always said these cameras are unconstitutional. The reason being that they send the fine to the owner of the vehicle and offer no proof whatsoever as to who is driving it. Your friend or family member borrows your car and runs a red light, you get the fine. It's wrong! How they get around it is that it's not a violation of State Statute and no points on your license. It's merely an ordinance violation. Still WRONG!

The city and the private company who operates these cameras only do it for the money. After a while the tickets become so few due to people's awareness of the cameras that they then have to move it to a new intersection cause it isn't bringing in any money. It isn't about safety at all.

In Florida, if you rear end someone it is your fault no matter what. You must maintain control of your vehicle reguardless of what the vehicle in front in front of you may be doing. If you rear end them it is your fault period for not maintaining a proper following distance.

Hogwash. This does not presume guilt. Instead, these traffic devices simply provide evidence of that guilt, no different then a police officer standing there and observing your behavior. Actual guilt or innocence is established through the process afterwards (in court, accepting the fine, etc). I don't like traffic cameras either, but lets fight them honestly and honorably through the political process.

I'm not sure why, but British Columbia tried to institute these camera cops and for some reason (thankfully) decided to scrap them after they were installed. Hope you manage to get them defeated there. I think the traffic law breakers should be busted the old fashioned way, by real cops (hmmm, which is more scary, a traffic ticket by photo, or one by a head bustin' cop?). Good luck and keep stopping at those red lights, cause it keeps the people going through the green ones from getting hit.

As a police officer, I have always said these cameras are unconstitutional. The reason being that they send the fine to the owner of the vehicle and offer no proof whatsoever as to who is driving it. Your friend or family member borrows your car and runs a red light, you get the fine. It's wrong! How they get around it is that it's not a violation of State Statute and no points on your license. It's merely an ordinance violation. Still WRONG!

the problem with these cameras is not that they prevent red light runners. They deserve to be ticketed. The problem is it is about raising money for the city because they are going broke. The city and the private company who operates these cameras only do it for the money. After a while the tickets become so few due to people's awareness of the cameras that they then have to move it to a new intersection cause it isn't bringing in any money. It isn't about safety at all.

to those ppl out there, these are put in for 2 reasons, 1 as a deterent to slow speeders down, 2 to make sure the police can afford their donuts, but also coming from a point of view from someone who has lost friends to being total idiots and speeding, and also having lost family members from idiots speeding, they aren't doing enough! they build race tracks for a reason, the surfaces are 10 times better and no chance h=of having a mum and baby walk infront of you from behind a parked car

and if you think these staionary camera's are bad, come to Australia where they put them in completely unmarked cars, hide them in bushes etc, trust me stop crying till you have them using guerilla tactics, then you'll have something to cry about, but if you succeed in getting rid of them, don't come crying when your family members get mowed down by a speeding idiot

Don't worry, we won't (come crying to you) Besides, you're argument would be effective ONLY if there was proof that cameras/speed traps, etc, prevent & or deter speeding. They really don't. People are going to & DO speed, regardless. Hence, people will or will not be "mowed down" whether there are cameras or not. Wait, you don't really think it's a ....LOL..."Public safety" issue, do you? LOL. Cameras are about 1 thing & 1 thing only. $MONEY$ Government cares less HOW many people die.
