you know, I much prefer this mix to the new one. it's much darker and more sinister, and more fitting to the theme of being forever trapped on a ghost train that never stops
Well remember that the new mix isn't completely mastered yet, so you aren't getting all of the effects and a lot of the instruments aren't standing out. Also the song was never supposed to be sinister. If you read the lyrics it's more mysterious and reflective than outright evil. The only real difference with this one and the new one, is that the new one doesn't have fretless bass, and the overall mix seems to be much lower (which will be fixed after we master it).
i do say, very good. I love the juxtaposition of the harpsichord, and the ambient, eerie vocals. I think it's safe to say, I've never heard anything like this.
This particular track was very infleunced by Trip-Hop, particularly the band Massive Attack. We have a brand new mix of this track at our myspace page as well, with real instruments.
Thanks =) I've been working on it a lot lately. I had a lot of fun singing live at the Eccentrik fest last month. Especially during Behold the Machine.
I think you're referring to the Harpsichord? I guess it is kind of synonymous with Vampires (though that isn't what I was going for at all with this song) lol.
This is really good, Josh... The lyrics are an excellent metaphor for our very existence; life, death, and the great thereafter! Awesome footage, too... I especially liked the part where the bridge collapses! :D Keep on keepin' on brother!
I have to say, I think I like this version better than the other one. It's creepier. I like creepiness. :D

awesome music! the lyrics are really deep, I love the whole feel of it.
I really like it when artists take the initiative to post their own music and interact with their fan-base.
keep up the awesomeness!

Your music is amazing. :D
My friend tried showing me Dr. Steel a while back and I was like "wtf is steampunk?"
And then today I had the urge to go look it up, and I think I fell in love. :)
But it seems people are more concerned about the style, but I like the sound of bands like you, and Abney Park, and Dr. Steel.
Google just came up with fashion stuff.
Anyone know more good Steampunk groups?
gaaraintune 3 years ago 5
you've got it quite correct ^_^
abney park, dr steel and vernian process are the only ones i know of too, i think they get done justice by wikipedia
it's kind of a work in process subculture/culture/genre of music atm, but it's going to grow because the concept is epic win ^^

Alas, the mods at Wikipedia hates Dr. Steel, they've all but purged all references to him and his work.
JonnyBGoode44 3 years ago 2
true, the mods at wikipedia are complete fags and they banned me for trying to make various up-and-coming band pages
i.e. genCAB :@

Wow.. hehehe, I never thought of it like that before lol.
I guess I can see the comparison to the video for sure. That's cool regardless, since Kraftwerk is certainly a good band to get compared to. =)

Oh and there is a newer version of this song on my myspace page (search for Vernian Process), with much smoother vocals.

Oooo, I kinda' like the spooky imagery of a netherworldly train that will never stop... But is that heaven or hell? ^_^
Oh yeah, and I like the inclusion of the climax of "The General"... One of the most expensive one-shot takes in cinema history! ^_^
