eh, this game was alright but my favorite will always be mechwarrior 4 vengeance. black knight was basically a copy of vengeance and mercenaries didnt have enough story to it, although i did like the arena battles that you could play.
@GangsterHutterite The initial missile barrage by the fireflys actually destroys the other arm. Typically the Summoner fields a LBX-10 over the U AC/20. As for the Timber Wolf... :X *shrug*
@GangsterHutterite He/She was not useing his/her ERLLs on the infiantry/armor, the red lasers were the ER Small Lasers, the blue ones were the Large ones. Most likely (s)he was saving his/her ammo (his/her missle tubes looked empty) possably because of an extended campain or lengthy battle.
They didn't have the budget and had to meet deadlines. Doing CG like this is expensive. Thats why a lot of the MW and MC intros could be a lot better.

The main reason why the IS attacked Smoke Jaguars was to shock the other Crusader clans in to thinking the IS was more then just barbaric. Also ilKan Leo Showers of the Smoke Jaguars was the invasions first ilkan. Also the planet Wolcott was used as a forward base in the Jaguars OZ making attacks easier for the SLDF.

@Gallowell In which case you take on Clan Smoke Jaguar, which was really weakened even after the Refusal War. They got the short end as they kept getting harassed by the Draconis Combine and Clan Nova Cat. Heck, even Clans Wolf and Jade Falcon got really weak, Wolf especially for fracturing.

@isocryd None of the 'mechs in this were a Gargoyle, and they are pretty easy to recognise. Gargoyles have much broader shoulders and are a few meters shorter than the Atlas, as well as having a more 'human-like' face, unlike the Atlas' skull appearance.

The intro gives a really poor view of infantry. It's a crap job, of course, but if you pack a city full of them, they take mechs apart with ease. In open terrain they suck. City combat was a horror that most pilots dreaded, especially as mechs tended to skid on concrete.
No, elementals are their infrantry. Clan members are all genetically perfect for what they do and they dont have mooks to throw away in large numbers, so elementals are "it". It would also strike them as dishonourable, as they dont swarm foes to achieve victory, they fight one on one.
@silvercat18 Clan combat rules are a little different for Elementals as they are for Battlemechs. It is not dishonourable for 5 Elementals to team up against one 'Mech, but it is if more than one go after another Clan's Elemental.
To wrap your head around Clan combat, you really need to understand the combat unit structures they use, not just for 'mechs but Elementals, Aerofighters and warships.
@silvercat18 Clan combat rules are somewhat different for Elementals than they are for MechWarriors. 'Toadies' can fight one-on-one against each other, but against a 'mech, combat rules state they can swarm a 'mech with as many as 5 (or a Star 'Point') in order to bring it down.

Questionable tactics by the Firefly pilots. By "bait" he didn't necessarily mean to leave the rooftops. They could both have fired those LRM 5's at the rear torso from the building. He would have to stop to return fire because the armor is weak there. Then just jump jet to a different building to avoid that PPC.

When I'm bored I'll do instant action with me in a Daishi equipped with nothing but LB-2X's, and kill a crap load of elementals. Then kill my teammates, who are all in fireflies. And the MFB's. Basically anything I can destroy, gets blown up. (I generally turn unlimited ammo on :P)

Questionable tactics by the Firefly pilots. By "bait" he didn't necessarily mean to leave the rooftops. They could both have fired those LRM 5's at the rear torso from the building. He would have to stop to return fire because the armor is weak there. Then just jump jet to a different building to avoid that PPC.

@Freelancer591 Fuck, have you even taken into consideration that the 'mech could have been fighting for a while when it was hit (backed up by the fact you can see it retreating back over the ridge AWAY from the Summoner and Timber Wolf)?
Have you taken into consideration that a single hit (even to an undamaged 'mech) in its stores of ammunition (LRM, SRM, AC, Gause etc) CAN and DOES take out a 'mech without any real effort?

When I'm bored I'll do instant action with me in a Daishi equipped with nothing but LB-2X's, and kill a crap load of elementals. Then kill my teammates, who are all in fireflies. And the MFB's. Basically anything I can destroy, gets blown up. (I generally turn unlimited ammo on :P)

i cant remember witch one i played but i like the atlas, i was playing a really hard mission and at the time my only weapons were in my arms and they were blown off. so i was running around like holfy fuck! and laughing so hard. i named it stumpy:P

Veterans know the lousy job microprose did with MW3 - 4. Mechwarrior 2 was the best, more of a simulation with loads and heat factors etc.
I truly hope MW 5 survives the Nippon Conglomerates...notice they didn't try this with Microprose...odd isn't it?
