I've been wondering what kind of violin this is played on. The sound of it is very... oh I don't know violin terms. It's sweet and clear and musical, and has nothing of the nails-on-chalkboard tones that are produced by some violins (most often bad ones, or from bad violin players).

Even a lot of good violin playing has a hint of that tone to it, but this has virtually none of it.

@hesho89 I realize this is a really old comment but, there is a guy called Ben Chan here on youtube who runs a site called chamberhymns, and he transcribes sheet music. This is one of the songs he's got up for a vote to be transcribed, but it's got a long way to go to the top, so you might want to check it out if it ever gets enough votes.
