I can speak Mandarin. But, I can understand more when I hear it than I can speak or articulate.

I also can understand Pekingese (Beijing Hua), and also some dialect and accents from most of the Northern Beifang lands, like Shanxi, Dongbei, Tianjin.

I of course can read pinyin.

I studied many Chinese characters, but I have already forgotten much of it.

I always think I can't "read" Chinese, but, actually I still surprise myself how much I can actually still read.
