I don't know if Itachi can beat Jiraiya but, for all I know Jiraiya doesn't kill Itachi and Itachi doesn't kill Jiraiya. it`s not an episode. Itachi and Jiraiya don`t ever actually fight except for some encounter when kisame and Itachi go to get Naruto. Jiraiya is killed by pein and Itachi is ``killed`` by sasuke. Itachi actually died from an illness and not from actual wounds that sasuke inflicted on him. :/ hopefully that helps you somehow.

As he took out an entire country of ninja practically on his own he must have at least some mastery of genjutsu (there would have to be some nin with genjutsu in the rain village) but he would still lose to itachi as only people with the sharingan (either extremely powerful regular sharingan like sasuke or mangekyo) can counter tsukoyomi and he is also susceptible to strong genjutsu like the frog song.
