I found this beautiful song 15 years ago and played it as my bride and I walked down the wedding aisle. There is such a thing as a perfect marriage. Thank you Jesus. "God is Love" (1 John 4:8). "Where there are two or more, gathered in HIS name, there is love."
What a trooper. Petula Clark had a sensational voice, and most everything she sang was pleasing. I might add she was a beautiful woman. She was a highlight of the 60's and 70's.
My husband got a real surprise when I played it at the time when we were married all those years ago. I think the song is timeless and I hope you enjoy the song as much as I did on our wedding day.
this is one of the most beautiful songs ever! This song can be enjoyed anytime, not only at weddings. It not only sings about love but also of true faith, for it says"whenever 2 or more of you are gathered in HIS name, there is LOVE!" And it's so true! That's why we get married, have families and friends because of LOVE we gather in HIS name!
Pilot53 your comments are truly inspirational. To love your partner so much makes the world such a special place and never be underestimated. I too am from Australia and it is an honour to be here with you.
Hi & I too love this song & I'd like this to be played at my wedding. She's in the States & me here in Australia. We both have a long ways to go before we can be as one but I'm hopeful that we will be as one soon. I adore her like never have I have truly loved a woman as I do her. Kindest regards to you. We loved your comment. We were living far apart in the UK and Finland (not as far as you and your loved one but apart never the less) and last year we got together when time and circumstances allowed us to finally be together here in Finland. We would like to wish you all the best and hope you will be together soon. We know the heartache of being apart and we are sure your love will see you both through as ours did with us. Best wishes from Finland. Marika & Mark (RockFur2)
I BOUGHT A PETULA CLARK JUST TO GET THIS TRACK!! I ALWAYS FEEL IT'S A HAWAIIAN SONG. DUNNO WHY, I JUST DO. BUT ISN'T IT NICER THAN SOME OF THOSE OTHER WEDDING SONGS? INSTEAD OF PLAYIING HERE COMES THE BRIDE, ALL ORGANISTS SHOULD PLAY THIS ONE.
I am turning 50 this year and remember this song when I was growing up. I have not heard this song for a long time and hearing it again after being married for 24 years makes me think how much I love my wife and how lucky I am...thankyou for posting
Being of Scottish descent, we opted for the music of a Scots' group, Capercaillie.
Not that it made any difference-the marriage only lasted four years, after being together previously for thirteen. It's those darn rings-they really seem to have a less-than-hoped for effect much of the time!
This was played at the very first wedding I ever attended, back in 1974. Unfortunately, the marriage only last two years. Some thirty-two years later, in planning my own wedding, I chose not to have it played, admittedly out of dumb superstition.
It sure was one of the most beautiful songs any artist could record, for that matter. It was also Petula's final chart success in Australia, reaching #8 on the charts.
We agree!! It`s nice to know that Petula achieved fame down under. She is one of the few artists that we can say deserved worldwide success. Thank you for the info. We always like to know more about the songs that we post.
Thank you so much for posting this song. And I agree with the comments about Petula Clark. I can't remember hearing a bad version of this song but Petula Clark singing it is by far my favourite. Thanks again
I wonder if people outside the UK know just how big Petula Clark was before she hit the worldwide scene with "Downtown". She was a star for more than twenty years prior to that monster song.

Quite possibly not. Petula made some wonderful recordings before the really big commercial period of her career.
