Further to my last comment, a quick Google reveals Shermans of all sizes, but there is a WW2 Sherman on display in Marseille which is surprisingly small, and I think that that one, or a similar one, was what I saw at the sacred Park of Selhurst..

Great memories. Having been a Palace fan for 49 years, I've seen quite a few good players, but I'm struggling to think of a more exciting player than Don Rogers. He really had it all. Explosive pace and sublime control. Wonderful stuff.

.. and yes, I do remember a tank parading around the pitch perimeter. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a US Sherman (relatively small), but I cannot think of which match it was. BTW A great game from Whittle as well.

It was suggested that this was the reason for the 5-0 drubbing. I don't suppose that you remember an exhibition tank at the match that was circling the perimeter of the pitch?
