  • So sad that palace fans are still fapping over the memory of this.

  • God,i remember this game,it was great.Whatever happened to Don Rogers???

  • Nevermind 4 rd goal WUZ way better lol

  • 3rd goal WUZ nice

  • 0:29 pressing fucking hard!

  • further proof united have shit history

    well done palace

  • and again we beat the scum!

  • YEAAAAAAAHHHH

  • Palace to kick them dirty man united. come on you eagles !!!

  • eagles are soaring!!!! Ambrose for prime minister!

  • Man United Vs The Palace next round of Carling Cup!!!!

  • Wonderful memories. Rogers out of this world. Up there in the top 5 of Palace Great Matches

  • I think John Jackson was one of the best English golaies never to play a representative game. So many good ones in that era.

  • And it ought to have been 10-0! Count the missed chances...& those were only the highlights.I seem to remember at least another 6 decent chances as well. Palace's finest-ever thrashing of Mank United!

  • i was there that day. Don Rogers was a genius, the greatest performance from a palace player i've ever seen

  • Regarding Yogi.. anyone remember a Palace-Everton game where he absolutely clattered Alan Whittle (then Everton) right in front of the dugout and got sent straight off? Was that Yogi's debut match?

  • I'm a Bolton fan but Rogers was the best player I have ever seen.

  • EAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGLESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

  • BEST TEAM EVER!!!

  • 5:17 Outstanding goal

  • glory hunters make me feel sick come on the palace beat the cum once more.

  • Further to my last comment, a quick Google reveals Shermans of all sizes, but there is a WW2 Sherman on display in Marseille which is surprisingly small, and I think that that one, or a similar one, was what I saw at the sacred Park of Selhurst..

..but then, my memory isn't what it was.

  • Great memories. Having been a Palace fan for 49 years, I've seen quite a few good players, but I'm struggling to think of a more exciting player than Don Rogers. He really had it all. Explosive pace and sublime control. Wonderful stuff.

.. and yes, I do remember a tank parading around the pitch perimeter. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a US Sherman (relatively small), but I cannot think of which match it was. BTW A great game from Whittle as well.

  • @TalonsMister Thanks for the tank answer. As it is unlikely that we both imagined it, I will take it as proof that my sanity remains intact. I know it was a ManU game and I know that Palace won, but the rest is a blur. Thanks again.

  • Love the Brighton fan trying it........... This replicates the result at Selhurst Park when Coppell was in charge of them...... 5-0 hehe

  • Wow. that actually could have been 7.

  • i was t this game! had forgotten it for 30 years, what a great game ....yes i remember Don Rogers ....overlooked, a great player ... England could do with a Don Rogers now!

  • @snafutube - Strange question, I know, but I have a memory of watching a Palace vs ManU game on TV (BM or MotD) and them showing a tank shooting at the ManU players. It was suggested that this was the reason for the 5-0 drubbing. I don't suppose that you remember an exhibition tank at the match that was circling the perimeter of the pitch?

  • @63RYANS Hmmm, no i can't say as i remember a tank there! .......Selhurst Park perimeter is too narrow i think for a tank! ....... maybe it was the pre-match rendition of DC5's 'Glad All Over' they used to play & the Palace fans would thump the hoardings that put Man U off ....... i think this was the season Man U went down, (but it may have been the same year palace went down too! .... would have to check the records)

  • @snafutube must've been 72-73 this, i just checked & Palace went down this season, despite the great Don Rogers ..... United went down next season, 73-74.

2 points for a win, & 2 up 2 down back then. (which i think changed next season)

  • @snafutube Thanks for the reply. The memory is very vague but the tank part is clear. I am not sure that the tank was real, maybe just some sort of strange exhibition. It was only small - the size of a car, maybe. I know Utd lost convincingly, but I don't think it was as bad as 5-0. Maybe, I have the wrong game or maybe the wrong planet. Who knows? Thanks again.

  • fuck crystal palace. support your local team and fuck off to the blue square premier

  • This must have been from the late 60s.

Just wish that Man U would go back to how they were asap. However it looks like that isn't going to happen for a long time.

  • Fantastic, I was there that day with a mate called Phil Bond who was a Man Utd fan. I have never seen it again until today. Wasnt Don Rodgers the absolute Don...

  • EAGLES!

  • I remember this game like it was yesterday, it make a big mark on me as a 10 year old. When Don Rogers put the ball the other of Stepney and tapped it into the net I wanted to do the same in the playground. To my delight it worked!

  • Don Rogers! The real deal.

And the rest of them weren't bad either: Paddy Mulligan, Charlie Cook, Alan Wittle and the great John Jackson in goal. It's true - they could easily have had 10.

  • i hate palace bhafc but hats off they did united cunts

  • Man United are a bunch of fucking losers.

  • EAGLES!EAGLES!

  • Makes me cry to think Palace will never do this again....but football now is nothing like it was then. This was when football was real football.......COME ON YOU EAGLES!!!!!

  • This was the first game I went to as a kid...

  • WOW! that was a battering! lol that rogers dude was full of energy. good stuff there...

  • football was so much better in the in the olden days. Not playing for money, playing for pride

  • El del bigote era la ostia!

  • eagles 4 ever. what year was this?

  • EAAAAGGGLESSSSS!!!!

  • Why is this on Palace v Man Utd?

  • What u on about? Man U away?

  • it's a bit sad that all those Man U fans have to get so cut over this, bit insecure about your team aren't you

  • Truly a humiliation

The Doc was waiting in the stands...

  • this is history the true is MANCHESTER UNITED IS EUROPEAN CHAMPION AND ENGLISH CHAMPION...

  • This 5-0 defeat by Crystal Palace on 16 December 1972 was Frank O'Farrell's last match in charge of Manchester United.

  • well im a man u fan nd for palae fans news flash dis woz YEARS AGO WAY BEFORE 1980

  • yes we know ure champions , we cant all support champions

  • Some of us support our local team, not just the champion.

  • Rogers! I support Chelsea FC.

  • lmaoooooooo is this ur last win

  • A truly great day for the worlds greatest football club, shame we couldnt do them bastards in the 1990 final though.

  • Don was pure genious. Fantastic.

  • WOW i have been a palace supporter for 27 years and ive never seen this game WOW brilliant best ever

  • WOW i have been a palace supporter for 27 years and ive never seen this game WOW brilliant best ever

  • WOW i have been a palace supporter for 27 years and ive never seen this game WOW brilliant best ever

  • WOW i have been a palace supporter for 27 years and ive never seen this game WOW brilliant best ever

  • WOW i have been a palace supporter for 27 years and ive never seen this game WOW brilliant best ever

  • Wow! Obviously every player was a hero for Palace, but that's as good a one man show as I think I've ever seen that Don Rodgers put on that afternoon; he controlled the game like Johann Cruyff. Did he ever get an England cap?

  • fag

  • Not sure whether he played from England but he was transferred to CPFC from Swindon (where the manager Bert Head came from!) - I was there and it was a great game ...

  • EAGLES EAGLES EAGLES

  • What a moron you are have you had a lobotomy

  • im not much of a man u fan but ur a wanker! how can u make that up about young people dying?

  • Seek help my friend. SEEK HELP. Also learn how to spell!

  • i was there with my two brothers. i remember at the end, some Man U fans came in at the back of the Holmesdale End but despite having bloody heads, just stood and watched the end of this marvellous game.

  • I was there too! Aged 22 I think that this match was shown live on Norwegian TV because Man Utd were the team to watch but.....oops!

  • I was there with one of my best mates who, despite being from Anerley, was a Munich bastard. He cried, laughed, we were 12 years old.

  • don rodgers legend the pace killed them

  • Alan Whittle. One of the greatest enigmas to wear an Everton shirt. Could be world class on his day, but was prone to inconsistency. Done well for Palace when he was there.

  • That's right.Check out Whittle's goal in the Liverpool derby of 1970. Search "Everton 1970". When Everton won the league in 69/70 Whittle was expected to become one of the greatest Everton players of all time. But both he and that Everton side strangely never fulfilled their potential.

  • Amazing, if only we could do this again ?

  • I cant see the screen through the tears. I was there, and the cry from the crowd after the 5th " any chance of another one Alex" Magic memories

  • to young to have seen this but we cud use a player like rodgers now

  • Don Rogers was Swindons loss Palaces gain. Was he as good as George Best, different type of winger, probably not quite. But as an Englishman, he was Alf Ramseys biggest mistake, we could have scored 6+ in World Cup Final. !!!!

  • same old palace livin off past memories

  • at least we have good memories...what have the Toffees ever achived ?? NIX

  • This has to be the best video ever. I am a Palace fan but i really hate Man U!!! When did this 'thrashing' take place? - I have tried searching for a date but can not find one!!!

  • it was December 1972 ... first match I was allowed to go to on my own at the tender age of 10 ... 40,000 crowd!

  • not a bad fullback mulligan!

  • Id forgotten how good we were that day... Totally awesome Should have been 10

  • Happy memories, thank you. Just struck me that Don Rogers looked like Capt Beefheart.

  • Great nostalgia. Was Don Rogers always this good, cause he's bloody awesome on this footage.

  • Easy Easy
