It's the other way round mate. India designed the car, and orders parts necessary for it's specifications from Germany. Just like America designs the IPod and get it made in China.

The main reason why german cars cost more than 100,000 rupees is that we have safety-standards that are needed to get the permission to drive a car on the road. For the same reason the Indian version of the Nano won't be sold in germany or any other european country.If the Nano would have ABS, ESP or Airbags the price would be much higher. The version that will be sold in europe costs about 350,000 rupees at least and it will only include additional stuff that is needed for driving permission.

Actually, with a booming economy 2 yrs back it was difficult for the company to meet its 1lac rupees pricepoint. But, since the decline in prices of steel n other materials due to recession, Tata is managing to hold to their promised price.

Currently, inflation is at an all time low at 0.23% in India. This situation would not change until the international market picks up. so till then HAIL NANO!
