i didnt say I didnt like this. Just to me now religions are mythical story telling. It would be like reading fairy tale books. they have a lot of good stories in them and they are mixed with a bit of history but far as stressing out over If Im going to hell. oh but those are not the complete dead sea scrolls. the complete ones are scheduled to be released onto the internet in 2010. the book you have has excluded many of the destroyed peices which had to be peiced together using many many digital pictures and these fragments placed back together. they are very very delicate.

study egyptian mythology, cananite mythology, the dead sea scrolls, palastinian mythology (specifically mitraism) then the bible. now that is perspective.

Your in the wrong pasture sheep. The RRS videos are on the other channel. Read the literature. Such dummies talk about science in the same way, not researching and not knowing anything about it. You might be in the same boat on the other side concerning religious literature. The study of texts and culture is called anthropology.

Hi Wayman, I am just curios..why the intereste in compairative texts, I mean, what is the real value gained by it except to say 'look other people said similar things'? nothing you have said have taken away from the words of Christ, and comparing texts does not mean we access the wisdom which is written in them..I am just unclear as to your aim with this.

Most people understand that the dead sea scrolls are a unique artefact and a very interesting piece of cultural history. But surely you are not suggesting that this has anything to do with substantiating modern interpretations of related concepts and texts ?

No, No I am not. I am pointing out that such usage existed in literary format before the composition of the NT and before the teachings of Christ. Modern NT theology is way off. Excellent question.

I am one of the dummies. I read somewhere that suggested you do religious reading when you first rise. I know most people do this to set their day right. I think I will do this because i have a better out look in the morning. As the day wears on I take silly things on here far too seriously. Alot of people i know who consider themselves Christian have not read the whole bible. I still think it will be good for me to read it first through without interference of others interpretations.
