  • were can i buy one of those after market auto advance ignition system ? if u can email me dusquestix@yahoo.com

  • is this engine converted, or meant for rc planes

  • oh ok would you mind sending me the info on where I can pick one of those up please?

    Thanks!

  • Damn that thing idles like a four stroke! Is that a DA-50 Ignition ? And again GREAT Job!!!!!

  • hi, its a RCEXCEL auto advance ignition unit. ;-D

  • did the stock ignition give you trouble? I'm having trouble with transition and unevenness in the high end. Any suggestions? How many turns out on the low and high adjustments? Thanks for your help.

  • My Thor runs well, but I'm going to replace the stock ignition as well, because the cheap ground wire broke in flight, almost destroying my plane. what were you taching with that 20/8 prop?

  • @cobaltjones 8000 RPM

  • wow, I'm only getting 6800 with the stock ignition. does the ignition have that great an effect on RPM?

  • @cobaltjones yes I could not get 7000 with the stock ignition, then I got the rcexcel (auto advance) off ebay for $40.00 and it worked awesome! way quicker throttle responce too! ;-)

  • oh my goodness. I can't wait now to get the rcexcel. 8000 will be a totally different level of performance than mid six thousands. thanks

  • ok, I have the same auto advance ignition module now, but I'm only getting 7200 with a 20/8 prop. First of all, I had to relocate the sensor drastically to get it to perform better than the stock. Now I'm trying to figure out how to drill new holes to mount it. for now I'm using electrical tape which I wouldn't fly it with. did you have to move your sensor much? how are you getting 8000 with the same engine? I've never even heard of a 45cc doing 8000. what's your secret?

  • put a 20x6 on it man! get some time on it and then put a bigger prop.

  • The engine is aklready broken in, I just bought the RXCEL ignition, unless you're saying that the module needs to record the high RPM of a smaller prop in order to adjust itself internally. But did you have to move your RXCEL sensor beyond the stock holes, like I did?

  • no I did not. I use 2 ounces of amsoil to 1 gallon of gas.

  • I tried one ounce of Amsoil to a gallon today and the engine did not like it at all. ran ragged on the high end and weird on the low, with bad transition. going back to Home depot brand...

  • Hi!

Why you replaced the stock electronic ignition for an aftermarket one?

  • HI Gary,

wow that one sounds nice ....

    Michael

  • thanks my friend! ;-)
