Koelsch is my favorite beer in the world. It's meant to be drunken in LARGE quantities and comes in a meter. Thats a long container with lots of peg holes in it with .2 L glasses functioning as pegs. You drink them down quick one by one. I think a Meter has 20 of those. Yum
Hey I'm german, and im from Colonge, so i know how it tasts and all that stuff...ehm actually, its the wrong glass...an you dooooont let a Koelsch rest...koelsch is nooot(!) the kinda beer you let rest..! but nvm:D its definatly the best beer in the world:D but its better if you get it from the biig things...
Wow what is with the nazi comments? I dont even know you but i want to smack your teeth out of your mouth. Its quite obvious that you dont know shit about beer. If you want to check out a great beer channel check out mine im about to brew a kolsch next week. That is a ale not a lager
Whats up with the nazis shit! I dont like you and its obvious that you dont know shit about beer. That is a ale not a lager! If you want to check out a great beer channel check out mine i will be brewing a kolsch in the next week.
Both Gaffel and Gilden are great examples of Kölsch... my personal favorites. I also think that in order to be a real Kölsch, it has to be brewed in Köln city limits. In big cities like NYC, Gaffel is becoming more common in the bars.
Nice Video. I am from Köln and you captured the essence of Kölsch very well. It is a livestyle. Kölsch is continuously served by the Köbes (a waiter in a Kölsch Pub) until you tell him to stop bringing Kölsch. We drink it out of 8 oz. glasses so it its always cold. As soon as it is empty you will receive a new one.
Nice Job Man.
You should ease up on the Nazi comments though. That's like me saying a KKK member is gonna lynch me if you don't pour a Bud correctly.
I lived in Cologne all last year as an exchange student. and what i have learned is that Kölsch is not just a beer, its a way of life. Kölsch is the only not only drink but also speak. Its a dialect, the culture and the way of life! Plus order some of the glasses. It tastes differently in different glasses if not poured in the right glass it will taste weird. And also do not let the bottle touch the tip of the foam. If it does it will make the beer have a metallic taste!
It's funny, I just mentioned that I had this Kölsch in Cologne when I visited a few years ago. In fact, I think I have a pic of me having one in my youth hostel with German friends in one of my travel vids. Thanks for the info on the dialect. I did not actually know that! Didn't appreciate the "nazi" comments, though.

Kölsch is an ale which is lagered.
Also, ö is ER

I thought that was the case. Thanks for your help!

ö is not ER. ö sounds like the ea sound in the word learn. It definitely does not make an r sound

Haha, the Nazis killing you for mistreating the beer! That was priceless!
But yeah, I get an idea why you were scared to try it +)
The whole description on that mini-booklet reminds me of Stella Artois' "pouring ritual", which is just a clever gimmick.

Anything over 10 minutes, without bonus footage or something really REALLY interesting, is a BIT long for a beer review.
Have you ever had PBC's Kenzinger? that's the only Kolsch I've ever liked. You should rate that.
