  • white man speaks japanese and has a bottle vaseline next to bed and a hightec cam... what happens this night ;)

  • What's this? A white man speaking Japanese? That's impossible! How can this be?

  • if you're rusty on Japanese, why not just speak English?

  • What focal point does the lens have to be set on after connecting the Letus35?

Do you have to focus both? Are you on FB?

    Thanks!

  • @GreenPeasProductions You first have to set the camera's focus on the screen of the Letus... I usually point the Letus at a lightsource without a lens on it and focus until the screen grain is sharp (without turning the letus on). Then once you have focus, you put your lens on, and do all your focusing with the lens. My name is Kyle Drew... I don't use FB much, but I just put a message on your wall.

  • @GreenPeasProductions Feel free to get in touch with me.

  • get a canon 5d instead

  • @membland wrong

  • @YourADrag canon 5d mk2 reviere you tube that

  • @membland im aware what mk2's can do. i own a 7d, and i know Phillip bloom. but there is no dslr to date thats more capable

  • '

why not one len can fix 3 perfect focuses picture,,,

no need one focus and another 2nd focus and another 3rd focus

  • hi i use a canon xha1 canon high def ,ive made ten music videos in a year stop by my channel and check them out

  • I have the xh a1, I am so impressed, look at the video response of Ozzy Osbourne (if accepted).

use a full open fstop and zoom in a little and you will get the 35mm look on the xh a1.

  • really interested on this beauty of a cam, but would a macbook pro 2.5GHz intel core 2 duo handle the canon ok??????

  • well its just 1080p HD so its not a matter of what HD camera it is. if your computer can handle full HD it can handle this camera

  • Yes it will

  • Nice test video. I'm gonna get a Letus35 adapter for my XHA1.

  • have you checked out the Sg blade ? .. instead of the letus ? why would you prefer the letus ?? . sg blade looks great and is cheaper, i am saving myself for an sg blade

  • Why the hell did you put some random Japanese voiceover that has nothing to do with the English subtitles that you wrote? It's annoying and distracting. Trying to be cool or funny? Because the result was not either case. It sounds like some religious narration.

  • your rant sounds like the blathering of an insane person. This guy obviously is trying to learn Passable Japanese, and is also an amateur filmmaker.

He apologized at the beginning for any misgivings in his Japanese, and yet you still talk like you have some kind of riteous indignation for the matter.

Fuck you and fuck what you think. You are a piece of shit and everyone who's read your little fag blog thinks the same.

  • Haha, oh right... and your little rant "blog" there yourself makes you look a lot saner.

You are a naive, gullible fool. Of course I have a right; I speak Japanese, so I know that the voiceover has nothing to do with the subtitles.

Anyone with a common sense can even tell that the kid's mouth -- let alone his face -- does not match the voice.

Hahahaha, obviously you "gave a fuck" about my comment because you just had to reply to it.

    What a hypocritical lunatic.

  • You are missing the main point of what I'm saying.

the title of the clip is not 'I speak excellent Japanese', it's 'Canon XH A1 and letus35 test footage'. The only thing the clip is trying to do is showcase what the Canon camera can portray, not how good the director is at a second language.

You are obviously just some troll who scours youtube looking for unrelated clips to hang your unworthy opinions onto. Get fucked.

  • Hahaha.... and you're not missing my point?

Exactly. It is distracting. I came to watch the test footage. That whole thing is irrelevant, not to mention deceptive, so that was my valid rant.

Talk about making assumptions. And you obviously have greater stress problems than me, so maybe you should go jerk off. I mean, after all that's what you assume this guy did too because "the camera is so sweet". Man, you're hilarious.

It's not even the camera. It's the adapter.

  • It's true, this guy just took some random Japanese that has absolutely nothing to do with the subtitles. It's a bit distracting, and may be a bit racist. It depends on his intentions.

  • 1:24, I know what that lotion is for. The Camera is so sweet you had to jack off right? LOL

no, seriously, I'm looking at Canon Cameras and your test footage is really selling me on this model. Right now I'm about to drop about 5g's on a Mac workstation tho, so the camera won't be for a while yet.

  • Did you use a nikon or canon lens?

  • nicely done, thanks for the footage.

  • ur japanese sucks, probably

  • So... I thought the XH A1 had a fixed lense... am I wrong? Or does this attach some other way? Please explain!

  • The XH A1 has a fixed lens, but I used a Narrow Depth of Field adapter to put 35mm SLR lenses on the camera. See my other tutorials.

  • Hello

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I just brought a Canon XH A1.. and filming just form the off, still looks a little 'amaturish' compared to this video. Would I need to buy an adapter, like a Letus35 to enhance to picture quality to give a more 'broadcast' quality?

  • hey

I love to take pictures with the Canon A1

and i was wondering if you knew if there is a way to take black and white photos with it?

    How do I do it

    thanks you so much !

  • you load it with black and white film haha

  • You don´t know what you are doing!.....sighs!

  • the newer letus 35s only lose about a 1/2 stop. Great demo though. I'm pretty sold on this now. All i need is the money.

  • The Japanese bit is totally funny and weird. Lighten up people, it's improv!

  • You let the angel watch you take a bath?

  • Hi hello KWDPRODUCTIONS,

Waht type of type did you use? Can you use a mini-dv tape and still get the same qualilty for the footages that you shot?

    Thanks for any answer.

  • what quality do you use to upload to youtube? do you somehow have your videos less compressed than other people?

  • nice vid

hey so is it worth buying

i eather want this or the v1u

    what do u think?

  • Good test. We tested with a Nikon 50mm 2.0 and a 28mm 2.8 but after seeing this I start Googling and Ebaying for a 50mm 1.4 We did some tests with the new Letus35 Mini on the little Sanyo HD1000 ($700) and Sony HDR-HC7 at Global-dvcxdotxorg.

  • He wasn't speaking the Japanese dialog. The timber of the Japanese voice is different, native and fluent. I dont know why you put in subtitles ...unless you took this footage from a Japanese source, which is what I suspect. How can you follow the visual differences when you have to concentrate on the subtitles which are outside of the area to be studied? Passing a clearly Japanese source off as your own (if that is what was done) would not be very christian.

  • i don't see anywhere where he says he was the one speaking japanese, or claiming that it was his original dialog. what he does say is that he didn't record the audio so he just used a random japanese narration. the subtitles are his own words however.

  • Really? That is quite odd! why not choose some random spoken turkish instead. Anyway...Why the need to do that at all ? Is it necessary or does it help in anyway? It clearly confused 1 commenter as can be seen in the thread

  • Really nice footage.

Quick question: How does the 24 frame rate look especially when you're panning/tilting?

  • Son of John , Adam it would look like crap to much motionblur.30f or 30p would be better.

Even 25p would be bad.Worked with them both.

You would have to pan very slow.

Other then that canon 24p/25p and 30p looks amazing.

  • Then my next question would be how does film account for panning, etc since it's shot at 24 fps? Or is this more of a video thing?

  • This is more a video thing.Often in movies they don't pan or tilt to much. Alot of shots or dollied. The whole camera moves from point a to B.You can fix the Mblur with a higher shutter speed when shooting 24p or 24cf.But geuss what you end with something lookinglike 60i .So what the F.Shoot 30p or 25p forget 24p.Unless you will print you video on to film.

  • To get smooth motion, you have two choices. Either a smooth, slow pan, or a whip pan, where there is so much blur that you can't notice the choppiness. Movies use only these two types of pans, without medium speed moves, which explains their lack of choppiness. 24p in video is the same as 24p in film, so it isn't a video thing.

  • awsome!!

  • I dont speak Japanese but your sounds VERY good. And great video, but I agree with the other poster, the Large Vaseline bottle is a bit suspect.

  • dutchboy

I wish I had also this camera

  • I had an interest in this lens for my V1U but from what I am seeing here I feel much better off sticking with Magic Bullet's algorithms

such as Black Diffusion even though it may take a week to render a project at 1920 x 1080

24P, it is well worth it, the footage retains it's HD clarity and sharpness with the same warmth as a lens like this one.

  • Big bottle of vaseline there, pal. What's that for?

  • Where can one purchase the Letus35 from? Does the company have a website? Thanks :-) PS: Really Top Videos!!

  • Purchase it from letusdirect(dot)com.

  • Does this flip enhanced version lose a lot of light or is it well worth it for the flip?

  • The version he is using losses 3-4 stops of light.

  • Hi there. I thought that this camera's lense is not interchangeable? I may be wrong. Anyway, can you show us which letus adaptor you used and what would be the best lense? I have a canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L lense. Would that work with that adaptor? Nice demo btw.

  • Hi there. This camera's lens is not interchangeable, but the Letus allows you to use SLR lenses. The Letus Adapter I used is the Letus35 Filp Enhanced. Any of the older Canon SLR lens mounts (FD mounts) should fit, but I believe many of the newer digital lens mounts will not fit.

  • Very nice - but since I understand Japanese, the narration that had nothing to do with the visual was very distracting. Even natice Japanese don't speak in a classical Shakespear language you used - LOL. However, I got this camera about a month ago, and am still testing it out myself - it was nice to see footages up here to learn what it can do. Thanks!

  • almost film look. But it's 24f, not 24p

  • Actually, this recording is 60i. The 24f mode looks rather choppy. You're right that the 24f mode is not true progressive - it's just done through a 2:3 frame pulldown method. It's best probably to record all images in 60i, then convert to 24f in post using the same pulldown method if necessary.

  • Actually, your camera's 24f mode does a pretty good imitation of 24fps progressive scanning, definitely better than you could achieve by post conversion. It records at 48i, and fakes progressive scanning effectively by offsetting the green CCD to fill in the interlaced lines that have been discarded, much like how the HVX200 gets HD from 960x540 CCDs. The result is a near perfect progressive image with only about a 15% resolution drop compared to its interlaced signals.

  • I noticed a lot of beathing in the rack focus. I'm sure the 50mm wouldn't be as bad but the shallow dof would be less pronounced, retaining more of the video look. Just guessing.

  • Why japanese?

  • Umm, I accidently did not record audio for this test, so I decided to dub my lines over in Japanese, and use subtitles. Hey, it works! It also adds to the "authenticity" of this test - but it's really just a joke.

  • I was curious, does your camcorder have a frame setting of: "OFF?" If My V1U does and it is super smooth, I'm wondering if down coverting to 24p is better in this mode.

  • My camcorder has no "off" frame setting. I don't know much about the V1U, but my understanding is that it can record 1080 24p natively with a 2:3 pull-down pattern to tape. It's probably best to shoot in this mode if your final product is going out to film, or a 24p DVD. Otherwise, it's best to shoot in whatever the native frame mode is (60i or 30p or whatnot).

  • okay, I purchased this adapter and let me say, I was pretty dissapointed. The light loss is huge, there is grain in every shot, even when brightly naturally lit.

everything looks like i'm using a soft filter on it, due to the frosted or tainted screen inside. You lose the ability to zoom...

  • ... except for maybe a few un-usable inches. It makes the use of a highdef camera worthless, if everything looks soft (colors). I returned mine.

  • excellent three part test thanks
