  • Just popping in for a tip. When you are in your yarn braids buy yourself a spray leave-in condish (ex. aussie moist), or braid spray and make sure you use it daily or at least every other day. Acrylic yarn braids hold on to moisture very well so by the time you take them down your hair will not be dry and brittle. HTH

  • God made no mistakes with african american hair. Our hair is so versatile and beautiful. Be proud and be patient. I like our thick hair, it has life and body to it. cheer up and stick with it.

  • oil moisture child....dry

  • oh my goodness i know how you feel! i start to envy non black women who dont and never will have to go through what black women go through with are hair and it makes me so mad! just looking at them makes me annoyed because they dont have to do shit to their hair and it grows down to their butt. ughhhhhhh sometimes i wonder why god gave us the most difficult hair to deal with out of every other race.

i dont know what to do with my hair anymore. everything is so frustrating!

  • @pinkaddiction13 white, hispanic, asian, polynesian women are so lucky that they dont have problems growing their hair. they torture their hair like crazy yet their hair still stays on their damn head and doesnt break off like crazy. i go crazy being careful about doing my hair and it wont get past my neck and is constantly breaking. :(

  • @pinkaddiction13 God knew what he was doing when he gave us our hair. We are all capable of having long, strong, healthy hair. We just have to work a little harder at is all. Hang in there.

  • @surgedeb thats the thing though. other races of women dont have to do ANYTHING.we have to have effort and regimes and lists of things to do JUST for our hair.

  • Hey girl! I must say, I just dicovered your vids and they are GREAT!!! I know how you feel!!! Its hard! Hang in there!!! I just started my journey too...I am losing mad hair and even balding! Yeah, natural hair is hard work. But you have to do your research. Let me invite you to visit kimmaytube. She is awesome. She has taught me alot about natural hair and how to properly care for it. I too aspire to get to lengths like Rusticbeauty. I must add, you have beautiful features so work with it!

  • OMG! U R MAKING ME CRY. DON'T GIVE UP NOW PLEASE!

  • This is so cute! I might have to try this. :)

  • lool i had the same problem i'm get about 3 inches a year!!loolso i'm seeing all these vids and huge afro's and i'm thinking erhhh...where's my hair then?i thinks vitamins might help speed things up a bit.

  • I feel your pain! im so tired of spending 2+ hours on a wash n go...or twisting..or braiding. its been 5 months since i BCed(one year since i permed) and i feel no sense of progression(as far as styling)...i dont want to go back to perms...but i do want to go back to spending no more than 15 mins on my hair...ughh... *stress*

but like you said, one year down... a lifetime to go ;)

  • Whoa, I went through that shedding-breakage ordeal from the yarn braids I had.. I felt superbly craptastic afterwards and thought whether the shedding was from having a baby recently, stress, or just having a shitty regimen for my hair... Perhaps a mixture of the three? Keep your chin up, your hair will flourish before you can say "Woohoo! There's more growth!"

  • oh and love the earrings.

  • Don't get too frustrated, it takes time to learn what's best for ur hair; and yes, patience is key.

and the more u do the styles the better and faster u'll get.

Good Luck on ur naptural hair journey!

  • Never comb your hair while it dry... wet it or put conditioner in it to make it much easier to detangle....even when u taking it out it help to slide the yarn out of your hair...

yea it does take some time to take care of it but it just going to start becoming natural and part of your routine and you wouldn't even have to think abt it anymore...

it been a yr now since ive gone natural and im enjoying d fullness and health of my hair... look to the positive

  • Ok ok ok - one last thing, I'm sho nuff gonna let these flat twists rest and copy you on those bantu knots. I love them!

  • and happiness with your hair. And oh - I almost forgot - for ideas on how to enjoy your shorter hair, check out blackonyx's early videos and mahoganycurls videos. They really know how to rock and celebrate that short natural hair.

  • @maximuslyricus thanks^__^

  • But rather, accept it and celebrate it, knowing that by the end of year 2 you'll have 24 cm of hair, year 3 will bring you 36 cm, and so on and so forth. Rather than lusting over rusticbeauty's hair, lust over some other youtubers with shorter, but equally as gourgeous hair like misskrisnew for instance. I don't comment on videos often, but I just wanted to give you back just a little of what you've given me through your videos. So here's to acceptance of, celebration of,

  • Although washing hair weekly is recommended, I wash my hair once/month. In the meantime I wear flat twists, and yes, I moisturize my 4b hair approx 2-4 times per week with the flat twists in. I only wear my hair loose for special occasions. This works for me, cause like u, I have no interest in working so hard on my hair. So, my suggestion is for u to find a routine and styles that require very little work. As for growth, since u know that your hair grows 12cm per year, don't fight it,

  • Hey willworkforfro. I want u to know that I think that u and yes, your hair are one of the most beautiful youtubers in the natural hair community. Unlike some, your hair is a perfect frame for your face, which absolutely rocks short hair - natural or other wise. And I'm sure many would trade a few inches of hair for that post baby body u got. Just so you know, my name sounds masculine cause I use my hubbies account. I ransitioned for 4 mos bc'd in oct09 and have 4.5 inches of hair.

  • i think the first year is the hardest cause you are getting to know your hair. i think the first year is when you make the most mistakes too but you just learn from it and you move on.

  • lol girl gone get them locs. You can always comb the locs out. My one anniversary is April 15 (like you I didn't transition) and I reached the point where is not hard work and that I don't worry about the length, and I've been following your journey and to see that we are not at the same point makes me sad :( I hope you come up with something though. Peace.

  • I am glad you are being truthful about how you feel, but you are thinking about your hair too much. When you think about your hair all the time, the growing process seems to take for ever.

  • @MarquitaD111 I think this panic I feel was spurned by seeing the tuffs and tuffs of hair falling out after I took the yarn braids out. I was literally screaming 'NO!!!' when I first washed my hair. Here I thought that I'd had some progress only to see a lot of my hair wash down the drain. It was a bit discouraging.

  • @willworkforfro ,the hair can't fall while in braids,so after you take the braids out it may seem like a lot. Having hair without braid is different, because your combing the shedding hair out. After you wash your hair, put conditioner in your hair, and let it air dry. You can put a colorful head band around you head for style,

  • @willworkforfro remember that you shed hair everyday.. so all that is falling out is the hair you shed that stays in the yarn.... so much progress yaya :)

  • @willworkforfro probably just natural hair shedding, people lose about 100 hairs a day

  • @willworkforfro Sweety, you left the yarnbraids in for way too long. Not every hairtype can handle such time. Try it again but this time 1.5 months...3 is way too long. Lazyness ;) Btw ur hair looks cute, u look cute and dont worry bout the lenght as long as it's healthy and natural! Dont underestimate Locks, IT needs taking care of too...orelse you will look and smell like a Chubatu ;)

  • @sweetdiva69 LOL I'll keep that in mind!
