  • i love that man tis sucha shame that he died i expect the fact he smoked so much didnt help him. but great man great comedian i have every single dvd of FT watchin 1 know! comic genius!!!

  • here here!

  • I was visiting in England the day Dermot died. At the time I had no idea who he was, and from the headlines on newspapers I figured he was a national hero of some sort. Little did I know what "Father Ted" would come to mean to me. The show has sustained me in sickness (literally) and health. No matter how many times I've seen it, if I need to laugh I put on Father Ted. I am devastated that I missed Ardal O'Hanlon's recent gig at a comedy club near my home in Massachusetts. Aww, FECK!

  • i'm sure he will tour again being the versatile little comedian he is so don't panic! father ted is a timeless classic.

  • Suitably bonkers. Very sad, though. Loved that chap - but, like most Brits, didn't know anything about him until FT.

Btw, for those of you who don't have the collection and don't already know, check out 'parteegurl''s channel. They are all there - the FTs - in total breach of every copyright law ever created to keep the good stuff from us poor.

  • yea. father ted was the main thing he did, and the thing he most enjoyed doing.

    copyright sucks.

  • I've always wondered why such a great great show only lasted 3 seasons.. then I found out about what happened to Mr. Morgan :(

  • yea it's sad. has anyone else heard of the dermot morgan commemoratve thing that was held on innis mor (or innis oirr)?

  • There was something in the Metro newspaper about that, two islands clashing over which one was the most like Craggy Island/who should host the festival or something like that. I believe they settled it other a game of football.

  • this is true. i read it too in the wonderful metro. settled it out with a football match...true father ted style!!! i can't remember which one won but ti was one of the arran islands! they may do something very special next year as it ill be 10 years.

  • Yeah i read about that in the guardian. they had a lovely girls competition and 5 a side preist v nuns football match. It sounds like everyone was pissed out of their minds and they're goin to do it next year.

  • REALLY!? next year will be the 10th year since Dermot's death so it'll be special. i hope i can go!

  • its cute...you can see u made it with good intent.

Its a shame that Dermot Morgan died when he did, just when he was at a high point in his career and could have moved on to other things to tear him away from being type cast. I would have loved to see him portray another character in another show or even film. Its so sad that he died so suddenly :(.i wonder if he knew beforehand about his heart?

  • Very good tribute! Made me laugh.

  • yes. good memories! glad you liked it!

  • father ted is great. i really liked the "Pet Brick" monthly magazine.

  • father ted should definately be repeated more! it is the best sit-com ever! 'second-best priest denounces 'feckin' brick!''

  • yeah i know! get the whole dvd collection and you definitely won't be disappointed. it's a shame what happened to dermot morgan.

  • i have the whole collction. it's great. we watched some of it i english today to anayse he language and it was sooo funny! it really is a shame about dermot morgan; he seemed like such a nice man.

  • funniest sit-com evarrr! i love watching an episode when i haven't watched it for a while. can't help but laugh my head off- literally...it's quite a problem.
