The seven seals are the seven Sacraments of the Catholic Church. They were opened before Vatican II when all rites were changed to the name in the Spiritus Sanctus instead of the Spiritum Sanctum. The significance is the baptisms are now done in the name of the one who is coming, instead of the Spirit of the one who was, is, and ever shall be.
