The spelling has been Amercanized. Just like the American General after which the Vandenberg Air Force Base is named. The Dutch spelling is van den Berg.

The keep it simple, Adrian van den Berg changed his (band's) name into Vandenberg. Edward van Halen never changed his(band's) name into Vanhalen. Yet it was Eddie grew up in the US from a very early age while Adrian van den Berg entirly grew up in Holland. That's one reason more why I've got tons of respect for Eddie van Halen

I slept on the sidewalk in front of the Roxy theater on Sunset Blvd. in 1983 just to be sure I got a ticket for Vandenberg when they went on sale. It was worth every minute on the cold, hard sidewalk! Adrian is just so amazing. All hail the mighty guitar solo!
