There are plenty of divas with 'real' wrestling backgrounds. Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Mickie James, Melina, Jillian, Katie Lea, and a few others. And just because a divas has no previous background, doesn't mean she can't wrestle. Trish Stratus never had this kind on training, and turned out to be a great diva. Candice is average in the ring, if that, but I like her and I respect her efforts.
