um i firmly believe that Jagr played in a rougher league than it is now. Now hockey is becoming a weaker sport etc. so forth and making it easier for forwards to score. Had Forsberg played back then he probably would've been a force, maybe as big as Gretzky, but he would have been creamed if he got hit.

Forsberg only had 2-3 exceptional season with the Avalanche and in philly he was one of the best on their team but he was still far from Jagr as Forsberg can`t deke past 2-3 players like Jagr can. They're both different types of players so hard to compare. I personally go with Jagr. His style of hockey is simply beautiful. He is always on top of things and his passes are unique. He is a tall player so sometimes he seems to be a little phlegmatic, but that beguils. Tto say that he didn't play with hearth is ridiculous... maybe not in the NHL, but that is just a bunch of Corporations.

Exactly what "era" did Jagr play in that Forsberg didn't? There is only a 5 year gap between the start of each NHL career. The difference in the NHL from the 1990 to 1995 season really wasn't that much. Yeah some goalies were better, but there were no real changes to the rules that would make a difference in stats ( 2 line pass etc.) so what advantage does Jagr have to pad his stats as you seem to be implying?

I love Forsberg and all and hes probably better as a complete player, but when you look at their careers the edge clearly goes to Jagr. Granted, Forsberg was marred by injuries and had only a short prime period, but Jagr was consistently one of the top scorers in the league. And I know the stats figures can be overrated sometimes, but Jagr played on a mediocre Rangers team for the last few and missed the last couple years.

@2ColeC Hey, Im just glad I was able to see Forsberg play. Back in the 90's and early 00's the Avs were the "dream team." We had the best wrist shot in Sakic. Best 2 way player in Forsberg. The best defender ever with Bourque who played 2 years with us. Best goalie in Patrick Roy. Then you throw in Blake, Foote, Drury, Tanguay, Hejduk, Ozolinsh, Kurri, Rolston, Fluery, Kariya, Selanne, kamensky, and lemieux through out the year its pretty lucky to be an avalanche. I don`t know why people think that Forsberg was better than Jagr. Forsberg only had 2-3 exceptional season with the Avalanche and in philly he was one of the best on their team but he was still far from Jagr as Forsberg can`t deke past 2-3 players like Jagr can. Whats great about jagr is he can create space wich makes wichever team he`s in sucessful

Jagr is still good today!! fedorov was playing into his late ages and still was effective for washington.fedorov and jagr are not half the playersthey used to be. and no player today compares to petr forsberg. the players in the nhl today just are not as good as the players in the 90's. They're both different types of players so hard to compare. I personally go with Jagr. His style of hockey is simply beautiful. He is always on top of things and his passes are unique. He is a tall player so sometimes he seems to be a little phlegmatic, but that beguils. Tto say that he didn't play with hearth is ridiculous... maybe not in the NHL, but that is just a bunch of Corporations.
Have you seen him 98 in Nagano where the NHL sent all their great ones. HASEK and JAGR were the Greatest

Jagr is one of the most amazing goal scorers of all time. He's also got rings. Forsberg was a great leader, and a tough hockey player. Exactly what "era" did Jagr play in that Forsberg didn't? There is only a 5 year gap between the start of each NHL career. The difference in the NHL from the 1990 to 1995 season really wasn't that much. Yeah some goalies were better, but there were no real changes to the rules that would make a difference in stats ( 2 line pass etc.) so what advantage does Jagr have to pad his stats as you seem to be implying?

I love Forsberg and all and hes probably better as a complete player, but when you look at their careers the edge clearly goes to Jagr. Granted, Forsberg was marred by injuries and had only a short prime period, but Jagr was consistently one of the top scorers in the league. And I know the stats figures can be overrated sometimes, but Jagr played on a mediocre Rangers team for the last few and missed the last couple years.

Forsberg is a type of player who would deke around all 5 players of the opposing team before he scored. "Jagr is more effective" pfffs what shit have you been watching? Jagr was my favorite until he screwed over the Pens this year, now 66 and 87 are. @2ColeC Hey, Im just glad I was able to see Forsberg play. Back in the 90's and early 00's the Avs were the "dream team." We had the best wrist shot in Sakic. Best 2 way player in Forsberg. The best defender ever with Bourque who played 2 years with us. Best goalie in Patrick Roy. Then you throw in Blake, Foote, Drury, Tanguay, Hejduk, Ozolinsh, Kurri, Rolston, Fluery, Kariya, Selanne, kamensky, and lemieux through out the year its pretty lucky to be an avalanche. Not so much now.

@WayneMorrissey no, but I'd say top 5-10 Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, Yzerman, Crosby, Sakic, Hull, etc. I'm assuming Crosby will keep improving till 26 or 27 then average 80-100 pts a year for 10 or so years there are also older players like Richard and others that are there, but I'm think the it's harder to dominate since the mid 80s due to world inclusion

He still has it in him I think, he's a top 10 player in the league still, but he said he wanted to be a 3 or 4 thats why he wanted to play in Pitt or Det. but I think he can lead a team still, but there is no denying that he stabbed Mario in the back with this. Jagr is the greatest Euro to ever play followed by Selanne, then probably Lidstrom, and then Forseberg....I was never really wowed by Peter as it is, he only had 3 100 pt seasons or close to it. Jagr had 10 where he was either over a hundred or within 6 points of it.

Major respect to both of these guys. Jagr the skill and the flashiness, Forsberg the grit and the heart. Competition aside, we can all agree that both are GREAT players. Jagr statistically is one of the best offensive threats in history. Forsberg has amazing solid stats and play. I can tell you who the better passer is. I can tell you who the better goalscorer is. I can tell you who the better defender is. The better player? Eek. I'll leave that decision to someone else. :)
