  • so your watching taco bell commercial and thinking how taco bell used to be better....... then the news "preview" and your reminded how some things never change!

  • Gasoline rationing? Just eat Taco Bell, you'll get some "GAS" alright.

  • Taco John's...it's a wholelotta Mexican!!

  • Comment removed

  • :)

  • think outside the bun. and then theres tacatacatacatacatacabell.

  • wow the irony of that news report. 32 years later and we maybe facing the same dilema.

  • what blatant false advertising.the food you get never looks like the picture and its almost always cold and they barely put any meat or toppings on.it pisses me off that nowadays you cant get descent made food at a good price.

  • @MegaCriswell Thats so true! I was laughing my ass off watching this. The taco's actually had some cheese on them! Not in real life they don't! Taco Bell isn't fit to be dog food these days!

  • LOL! "Is Gasoline rationing imminent"

  • Taca taca taco bell

  • That seems like an interesting era.

  • Taco Bell was,and always will be,the best place to go after a long night of drinking!

  • @burtonanfie I agree. Nothing better than some taco bell when you're drunk.

  • The whole news bit at the end with the rationing of gasoline was such a buzz kill after such a jolly commercial.

  • Those uniforms are classy LOL!

  • I seem to remember their tacos used to actually have stuff inside them like that. Now it's a small smear of brown meat paste and a couple token shreds of cheese colored something.

  • I remember the days before free refills on sodas. I had to ask for no or little ice. It made more room for the soda.

  • they used to have enchiladas?? that sounds so good right now

  • Back when touching food without gloves was okay

  • ,,but you had to wear dorky hats,,lol

  • Is it too late to see that report at 11?

  • @MrOmeMan Don't worry, it's on tonight

  • @MrOmeMan LOL

  • even stoners went to the bell in the 70's

  • "Gasoline rationing... ?? s^*t!

  • WTF they got huge friggin burritos back then? and now what... tacos i can eat in 1 bite smh

  • Taco Bell was really good when I was a kid back in the early 80s. They suck donkey balls now.

  • GOD!, i used to love the nacho bell grande, enchrito, and the tostada with the green onions, and black olives. WTH happened!?

  • I want to know about the gasoline rationing. Yet It never came on at 11'

  • LOL. Reality versus advertisements. They serve that crap ground "meat" (beef? probably not) out of a plastic bag they boiled it in.

  • TAKATAKATAKATACO BELL!

Damn, they sure don't make em like that anymore!

  • WTF olives in a burrito?

  • @EmilioEG87 It was GOOD. They suck now.

  • Can't wait to see the report at 11

  • It looks like they were actually serving meat back then.

  • @JCthaballa yup. they sure dont make their tacos like that anymore

  • white people serving at taco bell. I never seen that before

  • In 1979, most people here in Maine had never heard of Taco Bell. The first Taco Bells started opening here in around 1994. They're still somewhat rare, and are always combined with KFC's.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN The rarest pairing that I have ever seen is a Taco Bell/ Long John Silvers together.. Only 1 ...... Here in Phoenix....

  • @1stRogInAz I work at one, Orlando, FL

  • Is Gasonline Rationing imminent? A report at 11.

  • @peanutbutterjalopy Hindsight is always 20/20....... Answer is of course ...Yes.

  • omg the food looks real too

  • This was the time when there was actual meat in the taco........

  • The food looked semi-decent then. Now they skimp on all the ingredients so it's 80% tortilla or taco shell.

  • Gross that they didn't wear gloves.

  • @purpletang21 They dont have to because they are white folks

  • Yeah, take a look closely at the FOOD people! Remember how Taco Bell had black olives and green onions on the menu item? Well no more!!! Definitely does not taste as good anymore. The nachos belgrande and mexican pizza suffered from the removal of these two ingredients. Not only that, but the chips taste worse ever since they changed frying oils, and the sour cream is bland....Food gets worse tasting, portions are smaller, and prices go up!

Never stepping into a Taco Bell anymore for me!

  • @HHH100 And was that restaurant .... brick??? What happened to the cheapo stucco?

  • @parkesc21 I remember it was brick with a tile roof. But the important thing here is the food. Like Stephen27 said...The portions were larger too! The bean burritos were FULL. They even changed how they wrap them CLAIMING they no longer use one open end because the drive through people complained it would spill out. That is total BS! They changed the wrap style so they can use LESS fillings!

Until they make the food the way it used to be? I will never buy it again....

  • Wow, back when the lettuce was still green, and the tomatoes weren't.

  • Whitest Mexican food commercial ever.

  • Mort Crim for president.

  • PROOF that you used to get your money's worth at TB! Did you see the SIZE of the food on that guy's tray?! He probably only had to pay $5 - 6 for it, too! (if even THAT much)

  • @pizzadinosaur

    Crim

  • Hahaha Mort Crim's hairstyle did not change for the next 30 years.

  • Crim

  • Nutn like the screaming shits after downing a few soft taco supremes....might as well pull the pin on a grenade and swallow it.

  • and what happened to the grande platter in the big closed box. Way back when portions wern't monitored.

  • I forgot all about this ad... I used to sing along as a kid .. TACATACATACA BELL!!!!

  • I went to a Taco Bell it was 90 degree weather outside on the drive thru line. It straight up smelled like raw sewage out there. But that line of cars in the drive thru was 10 to 12 cars back. and that food was O so goood. I love Taco Bell. That was Taco bell at the bottom of the mountain. Down in southwest United States of America.

  • OMG gas rationing i gotta watch that tonight!

  • Sure the food gives you the shits, but it tastes amazing

  • Makes me want to go diarrhea!

  • Tap 5 to see the football player's weird grin at 0:17 - he looks WAAAAY too happy with his platter of food. I suspect he's planning to do something obscene to it...

  • bring back the chilito aka chili cheese burrito.PLEAAASSE!!!!!!!!

  • Taco Bell food dose not look like that now ...what hell happened ?

  • The fresh fart place

  • back when they used real meat as opposed to meat paste

  • By the time I was old enough to get my own Taco Bell, they didn't serve have that stuff, anymore. :(

  • So they have been providing diarrhea for years.

  • Just a Jonny.

  • The olive were removed because of a lawsuit by someone who said that they bit down on a olive seed or something to that effect. I love taco bell people in the southwest of the United States of America love Taco Bell or at least my friends. Ya got Pizza hut and ya got Taco bell. I'm the guy who likes Taco Bell. Pizza Hut don't like my type off hand. And I'm not Hispanic or Italian.

  • I didn't even know they had Taco Bell back then. I don't remember there even being Taco Bell around here (in the Dallas area) until the late 80's or early 90's, prior to that all I can remember are Taco Bueno chains on every corner.

  • Back when food commercials just focused on the food, instead of trying to be all hip and quirky like today's commercials.

  • @ DEF0963 ur rite the beef was real the food way better

  • Fire in the disco...

  • back then when English was spoken at fastfood restaurants

  • Was I the only one who said "hallelujah!" at the end of this awesomeness?

  • It wasn't fast food back then, It was good food.

  • Dang! I forgot to record that at 11, I hope they replay it!

  • This is the whitest commercial ever...

  • @vaibanez17 incorrect look at 0:24 there's a black guy in the back left corner ;)

  • @vaibanez17 is that a problem?

  • I sure the food must have been better then. Before the meat became genetically altered.

  • looks like the tacobell on olive next to the WB lot

  • Seniors are the only ones who's fashion has remained unchanged since 1979 :P

  • Before they became crap. I miss them having good cheap mexican food. ---- Taco Bueno, Taco Casa, or Taco Cabana FTW :)

  • @GnatTwo That shit isn't mexican food.

  • @don417 I didn't say "authentic Mexican food," but it is cheap Mexican food regardless of your opinion of it.

  • 3 people had to ration their gas

  • Wait!Real beef, smiles on people faces this isn't the taco bell I know.

  • what ever happened to taco tico

  • Taca-taca-taco Bell!

  • Is this when they used reall beef?

  • The Libtard Dems really took away the good taste in restaurant foods.

  • Mort anchored in Louisville,KY too

  • i thought they were going to sing it in spanish :L

  • AWK.

  • wierd ..omg i live in michigan i wonder if my aunt remembers these commericials.

  • Hey, the delicious enchirito! It's still around, but you have to order it from the secret menu. It comes in a cardboard box, now, too.

  • Taco Bell tacos have never been that big. Lying pricks.

  • This is an insult to real tacos but it still tastes fucking good lol

  • Even way back then, they STILL bitched about gas shortages.

Of course, with Taco Bell, the LAST thing you need to worry about is gas shortages!

  • @Aerodeth LOLOL IKR?

  • since when did t bell have olives?

  • Mort Crim! Awesome... I remember Mort Crim and Bill Bonds were like Ron Burgandy and Wes Mantooth in Detroit

  • I remember the taco supreme was a larger taco. The Nachos Graunde was larger to.

  • I remember the taco supreme was a larger taco. So was the Nachos Graunde.

  • Don't know about the gasoline rationing, but if you eat at Taco Bell, GAS is imminent

  • @Secundas LOOL

  • @Secundas - If I could, I would pay you real money in exchange for the sheer amount of laughter your comment gave me. It just seems like the right thing to do.

  • @DropPodFullOfPonies XD your laughter is my reward

  • @DropPodFullOfPonies ...and besides, I'd probably just spend it on Taco Bell

  • 0:27 i see some of those buildings in town but closed down and the new taco bells are next to them sadly :/

  • GO MICHIGAN!!!!!!!!!

  • Ahhh this ad takes me back....and I was born in 1985

  • I think they're still selling the same batch of tacos from 1979 in my area. Or at least they taste that way.

  • I remember those enchiladas in tin trays

  • taca-taca-taca-taco bell!

  • This is when taco bell was good...before YUM YUM CORP. FUCKED THEM UP like KFC Remember the Bell Burger or the Encharito

  • At TACOTACOTACO beeeeeell!

  • You could tell that guy at :17 was one of The VIllage Of The Damned

  • yum.

  • Wow. Is this David Cassidy singing?

  • ahhhh :) 0:20

  • I bet if people in 1979 were told that in the year twenty eleven people on a worldwide network would be watching their old commercials and commenting they would have thought it would never happen

  • @video89xy NOTHING is as good as it used to be.

  • I worked at Taco Bell as a night mgr from 79 to 80. All the food was made fresh back then. The beef and beans were made in house, the veggies fresh cut, etc.. The enchirito was a small flour tortilla filled with beans, beef, and fresh diced onions. It was then topped with sauce and black olives. I personally liked the green sauce on mine. I remember going to a convention years ago about the newest ad campaign. It was called "take a Taco Bell vacation" I don't see any of those ads on here though.

  • @DEF0963 Man, the food has changed sooooooooo much since even the 80's! They don't even put olives on anything anymore! And the food is NOT as good as it used to be.

  • @M424Filmcast

Dunno about you, but I thought that beef looked fit only for school lunch tacos. Looked like Kibbles 'n Bits or something created out towards the back of a Taco Bell, ideally in private.

  • @Manimal347 LOL! Yeah, not only in private, but in secret.

  • @M424Filmcast I saw this commercial and near cried because this is not the taco bell we see now.

  • @DEF0963 I used to eat at Taco Bell from the 1970s to the early 1990s then something changed. The food tasted completely different as you mentioned because they no longer used fresh veggies or even 100% ground beef anymore. Taco Bell was sued fairly recently for using meat that is only 35% beef and the rest is filler. In fact the meat comes prepackaged ready to heat and serve! Just do a google search for taco bell meat filler and read a few articles and look at some images.

  • A tac, a tac, a Taco Bell lmaO!!!!

  • I was a year old when this came out

  • I'll be FUCKED if any tacos I have ever received from Taco Bell looked like that.

  • @MsCandypower1 i'm pretty sure it was a cross between a burrito and an enchilada, but i've never heard of it before so i guess they discontinued them some time in the 80s.

  • @magnahelix According to the Taco Bell website, there's still an enchirito on the menu (it was discontinued from 1993-1999). I've never seen it on the menu at any Taco Bell I've been to, though.

  • Fresh roadkill horse meat

  • 0:18 Go Blue

  • That meat made me sick.

  • Holy shit... what happened?

  • :22 That kid should stop touching his grandma's taco

  • Gas rationing sucked you could only get gas on even or odd days depending on the last number on your lience plate then you waited in long lines at the gas stations...When there were tankers full of oil sitting out side San Francisco Bay that couldnt get in because the refinerys were FULL just the gas companys and government way to raise gas prices and it worked

  • @Carballoca I remember that too...what does it have to do with a Taco Bell commercial? 1979? Lots happened that year! Cheap Trick released Live at Budokan! Ummm, that doesn't have anything to do with the post though!

  • @DickLodge68 Nothing...lol I seen this and reply and answered it...Well?? Was gasoline rationing imminent?

  • 0:17--I think she has a crush on that guy.

  • @snootzie78 I have a crush on her is that fair? Shes like 40 now!

  • Mort Crim?? He's a fuckin beauty...hahahahaha

  • no beef ?ok let me tell you a secret the meat is youer pets cat,dog gold fish

  • Taca-taca-taco bell! No wonder they call it "mystery-meat"! 36% beef? Can I hear a "C'mon Man!" ???

  • @DickLodge68 taca-taca-tacobell? Haha! The "singers" have a stuttering problem!

  • @SnowbirdFlock "The Fresh Food Place!" Wow! It's too bad because I used to love Taco Bell! Now it's just sloppy and cheap. For a fast food chain Del Taco kicks their butt! Funny at Del Taco... you can get a burrito with fries or a pretty good hamburger with chips and salsa. And they cook it right there! Convenient but no thanks, I'll make my own.

  • NAHHHH gas rationing wasnt imminant.......

  • Mexicans cook....white people eat :)

  • @Aqua333444 the only thing that white people do apparantly :)

  • Well?? Was gasoline rationing imminent?

  • @magnahelix we all want to know!

  • @magnahelix It was.

  • @magnahelix Yes. Yes it was.

  • @magnahelix I guess you don't remember the 70s. Even/odd days by license plate number when you were allowed in front of the tow truck to get into the 1/4 mile long line to get gas (and no fill-ups)?

  • @magnahelix No. ObamaCare was imminent.

  • @magnahelix I'm dying over here XD

  • @magnahelix Depends on how much Taco Bell you ate.

  • I used to always order the Taco Bell Grande :)

  • Aw man.. I wanted to hear if gasoline rationing was immanent! Snap...

  • I head that their ground beef-ish is mostly filler.

  • Hey listen up. If you're over 30 years old, do you remember when the taco shells used to be hard, not soggy like today's. And the refried beans and seasoned ground beef used to be fresh, not frozen.

  • @MoJoRod30 Everything tasted better back then. Amazing how much taste those

Trans Fats added to the food,eh? LOL

  • is gasoline rationing imminent?

  • Wow, those tacos looked REAL! nowadays my taco looks like shit from taco bell.

  • I wonder how much Michigan payed them for this... (go blue!)
