  • I was blown away when I read this novel, so different and creative, with the photos adding a real touch to the experience. Young people are very rarely (ie never) my choice as protagonists, but this one is so interesting, endearing, and sad, it made for an emotional read. When you come upon an author who can write this well, you instinctively tell yourself you will read anything else the writer later produces, and I will.

  • Dairy cattle? Beef cattle? Mr Foer doesn't know what he is talking about. He talks about the treatment of dairy cattle, but says EATING MEAT so he can get more attention? His credability just went to zero. Beef cattle grow up on ranches!

  • I really love this book. It's my favourite book. I haven't read any other book of Jonathan, but I shall search for his books in the bookshops next time I'm shopping =)

    Maybe Jonathan becomes my favourite author. that wouldn't be a surprise for me. I bet all his books are as good as Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.

  • I love el&ic as well, but it's not quite as good as Everything is Illuminated. I highly recommend finding a copy somewhere and reading it. He's currently my favorite modern author.

  • Ok. I read Everything is Illuminated a coupke of weeks ago. It was really good. I loved it. But I cannot say that it was better than el&ic. But it's a wonderful book, indeed it is.

  • Apparently you've never read the novel, which, by the way, was one of the most emotionally complex and fresh novels I have ever read. The movie,on the other hand, was mediocre at best. JSF has a great gift. I would like to be his protege.
