Yeh, I got the Oreo effect and overheating issues. My 2nd pre, 1st one had bleeding issues that was my fault tho, I love this phone but I'm getting a blackberry torch instead or might wait for the pre2. But won't be getting an iPhone. They are terrible, and boring!

to all that are flaming this gentleman, you better get to know your facts. many, many, early pre adopters had this issue. some cracks originated from the side and some from the center button.

Wow. From a few iPhone videos I just watched and people bashing it after, I thought the pre was made out of gold, wipes your ass, and did your laundry. I guess it has it's problems too.
I've had my pre for a few days now... And I treat it like a baby. I actually still keep it in the little case it came with until I can get an Invishield for it. I guess Im not like most people who treat the phone like its meant for war... its a plastic phone, treat it as such, and ya wont have any issues. ;)
So if you bought your pre at a corporate sprint store, and you have any issues, you should take it back before the 30 day mark...
PS To the guy who made this video. You know that crack by the battery door is your fault! How the hell did that happen? LOL & I seen the matte-black-battery cover i know you have the touchstone charger.. LOL
The front half of my screen is loose so my pre makes the same wobbly noise! I took it back to Wireless Wizards (3rd party store) yesterday and they ordered a "replacement" phone for me. So i should have my NEW PRE tomorrow FREE OF CHARGE.
I do have warranty which is why the replacement phone is free, & I am passed the 30 day mark (bought my pre the 1st day it came out) but its not a problem, and I was told i probably would have had to pay if I had bought it at a corporate sprint store.
I actually switched FROM the Iphone 3G to the Pre, I love mine, now that I've exchanged it--mine had a couple of those issues, plus a speaker hiss every time I closed an app. Not that big a deal to me...iphone is good, pre is good--fanboys are dumb as hell. Both are going to give the smartphone market some needed competition.
All the Pre phones that I've had a chance to use (one at a store, a friend's, and mine) don't have any of those issues. BTW, why are you twisting on the screen anyway? I've seen some of the different pictures of the flaws on precentral and I swear you guys must be going over this thing with a magnifying glass.
Get your head out of the clouds. I've had a Pre like this one which I exchanged. I've seen MANY others with the same slider gap issues. When I exchanged my unit I had the sales person show me several till I found one with a good tight slider, but it had the light bleeding issues. There's no winning. Palm Pre's QA blows, and Sprint didn't want to give me another exchange, After 10 yrs I returned phone, canceled Sprint and got an iphone 3gs. Much happies now.
Why would I have my head in the clouds when none of the devices that I've seen have any of these issues? Theads on that site do indicate that the ones made early in the manufacturing run are the devices that have the most significant problems and foxconn has corrected it.
I hope your 3GS doesn't get hot enough to make it change colors.
I must be lucky because I have not had any issues like this with my Palm Pre. Palm really needs to watch their QA if they want to beat Apple. I know that I got a newer shipment of Palm Pres so maybe I got a newer version.

Try to exchange your phone, if not return it. if they still give you problems, call sprint and ask or the retention department. if they still give you problems, get an iphone 3gs like I ended up having to do.
Absolutely right, I was puzzled at first when he said Q&A problem as well. It's Quality Assurance, or he could have said QC problems, Quality Control. I think Palm needs to fire the people making their Pre's. either that or rethink the materials being used, or ditch the slider and give Pre touch screen keyboard and bigger screen.
Same problem I am having and went to the sprint store and the tech opened 6 new pre's from the box all had the wobble and space in them. It is a issue palm needs to resolve.
I just got back form my sprint store, and they said that as long as it's not affecting the 'performance' of the phone, that they will not replace it..
Too many super picky people returning them because of a tiny flaw they read about on precentral and they're convinced they have one too. There was a thread on there yesterday about how some people have been mistaking parts of the sensor grid as 'dead pixels'...again stuff you have to be looking for with a magnifying glass.
yeah this happens with a lot of new products. Happens with the iPhone a lot. I used to be really OCD about my iPhone messing, but don't really care with my 3GS. Its a phone.
There things wrong with the Pre that don't require a "magnifying glass" to see. Such as OBVIOUS dead pixels, of light areas in the screen which can be very obvious to look at when watching video, etc, depending on the severity. This unit has serious serious issues and i'm styaing away from it until they can be resolved.

I have the same gap like you and it wiggles too. My center button is more flushed that it should be and the power button doesn't click too crisp. Mind you this is my 2nd Pre. Going to exchange it for a 3rd today. Wish me luck.

I was looking at getting a Pre. But it's the sliding form factor and the creaky flimsy plastic which its made from has put me off completely.
Never found sliding phones last very long, and usually end up like what's in the video.
