Ok to shut you all up... i found several articles on this and they all say there are fewer buttons that exist that you actually control. the traffic walk button gives you the delusion that you are in control to comfort you, but they are all set on computers and timers. all you have to do is google "traffic placebo walk" instead of being too lazy to look it up and just resorting to being ugly about it.
you know those buttons are nothing more than placebo effect right? it gives you a sense of having made something happen, but has nothing to do with when the walk light changes because they are set on a timer. funny huh?
@txmomoftwo1 Actually, in some small towns the buttons do work. At least the one I'm currently living in. I could be standing at an intersection for 10-15 minutes if I don't press it, and trust me, it happened to me when I first arrived in this town. :/

@AllstarHunE i tell you what. its real easy to respond by calling someone stupid or a liar than it is to actually research it for yourself isnt it? and i am talking to all that responded with the exception of the video poster. instead of telling someone they dont know what they are talking about, look it up. thats why google was invented. duh. its called "placebo effect".

I've seen many times when I didn't push the button and the traffic lights for cars turned red but the pedestrian lights remained as a red hand and then I had to wait for the lights to cycle again and then pushed the button and the light changed... So therefore, it is NOT a placebo. WUT!
@txmomoftwo1 I think you're wrong. Do you think the state would really spend so much money to give people a "sense of having made something happen"? Well, I don't know how it is for you cityboys but for us who live out in the country side, those buttons really do have a function.
