Thank you and thank the Lord for these warriors. My father was a quartet singer and I am a life time fan of Ira Tucker and the Dixie Hummingbirds. My prayers go out to the family. Our young people need to know our heritage in music!
Ira Tucker,Sr was the only original Dixie Hummingbird that lived longer than the others. Most of the Dixie Hummingbirds died before him. He's gone to heaven to join his most of his group. They've got their lead singer back. RIP Ira Tucker!!!
For you have Fought the good fight, you have kept the faith, and have finished your course. Sleep on Ira Tucker, Sleep on.
Thank you for posting this video. It reminds me of my grandfather, George Carter, Sr, who sung in a gospel quartet, "The Echoes of Zion" from Houston, TX. He passed away last year. When I was a younger, he used to tell me about the different groups that sung on the same platform as he did, and this group was one of them. I truly appreciate those that has preserved history like this for the next generation. If anyone have anything on the Echoes of Zion, please post it. Thanks! Roslayn Allen
