Why are half of these DJ Tech tool videos using a midi fighter anyway? There are much better controllers, and most DJ's still use Techs or at the least CDJ's.
you just won three grammys... you are already an excellent producer and now you get to play at bigger shows with a bigger crowd. Please learn more mixing like this...
Excellence, I wish I had this setup, I can't even get my piece of crap 1980s Casio hooked up to my Midi with Reason 5, *frown* all support me to buy a new keyboard? :D?
What was the name of that trick at the tail end that kind of slow the track down? I'm into production and I'd like to implement that in to my music. I'f you don't mind I would like to learn how to put that mapping togather
@viruscegv you just set the first button to a 1/4th loop, the second to a 1/8, etc. and the last one to a 1/32nd with another effect i dunno how its called in traktor and thats practically it.
@viruscegv well, it sounds like a short repeated sequence of drums (I guess the rate is 1/4) having the pitch gradually lowered, or something like that...
If you ask me, don't do the kind of filtering he did in the beginning. Also, DJing is not about who has the best effects. The tunes already got enough effects. Pay more attention to beatmatching and the actual set: tracklist and construction.
@ThechosenDemon obviously you dont listen to dubstep... cause i've never, ever heard anything in dubstep that sounds like farts. only low frequency synthesized bass lines and percussion.
What i dont get is that the beatmasher is like a knob right? so how is he using his arcade buttons on his custom midi fighter to activate the beatmasher?
Well @Mattsurai, over a decade ago when DJ's still used real vinyl, I went to raves every month and the limitations of vinyl meant DJ's were not able to do stuff like this. Surely I understand there is a new DJ/Controllerist emerging that if done properly can make exiting stuff by using the latest technology. Still I want 2 go 2 a rave 2 Dance and if the DJ constantly plays around with all the cool feature and his controller buttons I think it would become a very uninteresting for me the raver.
is that a MIDI controller? I been using FL and Ableton and i am tired of using my keyboard and mouse as input. I want knobs and buttons so i can get funky. I dont know what i can buy that will maximize my knobs and buttons allowing me to tweak more. Other problem i dont know what i would need; keyboard, midi controller, turntable, drum machine... theres so many and i just want to make dubstep, dirty and simple dubstep... :*( on the other hand very helpful and easy to follow, well done!
I'm impressed with your controllerism skills. However, I always wonder how much an audience will appreciate the DJ playing around with effects and rolls like u are doing in this video. I think that more than 95% of DJ gigs in the world are for DJ's to play the songs that the audience knows from hearing on the radio or in the charts. And I think they just want u to play that song they like so much and dont appreciate the damn constantly transforming it with effects and rolls. What do u think?
@XEinstein You're talking about a completely different kind of DJ. There are guys that, for some reason, are paid to stand around and press the "play" button with pop songs. That's stuff a computer, or well-trained monkey can do.
This video is for the kinds of DJs that play Electronic music at raves and similar events. They mix the music together to keep a constant flow, and often use samples and effects like in this video. People who go to those shows really love it when done well.
When u make a joke you take something or some situation that is funny into a situation where u can laugh about it! I think @DelegaPromoGuy did that very well. And i have the same hand movements but i think it looks funny. It is even better when u turn down the sound!
How can I map a midi/hid device like this? Im familiar with mapping in traktor, but how can I order a button to turn on a specific effec and set it to an exact vaule (like in beatmasher 1/8 or 1/6).? Help me pease!
@omangas297 Are you a fucking retard? Do you not know how to type "20 pad midi fighter" into Google and see where to buy the fucking thing? Why must the owner of this video, who has way better things to do, help you find something that is easy as hell to find on your own. Talk about lazy ass people.
@0Heavy0Metal0 easy there pal. first of all, youtube isnt the place to PMS. secondly, i don't know you, and you don't know me, thirdly, if you MUST know the exact reason why i asked such a HORRIBLE question, was because if u actually had a knowledge of controllers and fucking common sense, u'd know that they dont sell legit 20 pads yet, and i asked to see if it was gonna end up on a product line one day. calm the fuck down buddy, sorry for whatever the hell ruined your day
@miltonatchet Dude, Dj'ing has evolved just like everything else out there, computers, sports. Cdj's and midi controllers help us be more creative than ever with our music.
Turntables are really abit of a gimmick now (Except for scratching/juggling/blablabla) and what really matters in the end is the output.
Besides, most controllers coming out our days look sick!
the beatmasher is not the same as a beat roll. you can do a beat roll effect on it, yes, but it's far more than that, and reducing it to that really makes it seem like you dont know what youre doing.
@ryancollins08to09 Well he's using Traktor (the software) for the effects, but he's triggering the effects via midi with the DJ TechTools 'MIDI Fighters'.
On TRAKTOR Scratch Pro 2 I got only like 6 effects and I'm watching these videos and they have a big list of effects and I'm wondering where I can get them because I really need these please reply back!
the reason he exaggerates his hand movements is simple. any real dj, turntablist, or controllerist knows this. when you put more feeling and emphasis on your movements, your tweaks and turns, and when you let the music control your emphases, your timing is crisper, your build ups smoother, and your all around performance is much more enjoyable, both for you and the crowd. moving with the music while you turn your knobs and flip your faders ensures greater accuracy and congruence with the track.
@ATSonicChronic nope.......anyone can be a dj with moderate synth fu but performing without movements like that make you look like a nerd. exaggerated hand movements do not add anything besides a level of illusion.
@ATSonicChronic Well said mate, thats spot on, i really 'exaggerate' my hands movements when Im DJ'ing, you need to get that feel for it! Move with the music
holy shit. it's pissing me off how many people are shit talking just because ean "exaggerates" his hand movements. ean is a genius. and he's showing people tricks on how to improve your controllerism. he's not trying to exaggerate to look all cool. it's called feeling the music. those hand movements are no different than someone tapping his foot to some music. and besides. wouldn't it be HELLA boring if some guy just stood there and pressed buttons?
Is there a control to have the same beatmash technique for triplets?
