Under that logic, it is equally immoral to kill a plant for consumption. If life itself is the factor in which your argument is based, a plant is no less alive than a chicken or a human. The real difference is consciousness, not life. A plant's lack of consciousness is no different than the deviation between the consciousness of a chicken, and that of a man.
