breakcore, c'est juste du breakcore, faut pas chercher 36 noms ou inventer un genre, c'est definitivement du breakcore, ou pour contenter les plus pointilleux on precisera breakcore-metal et puis c'est tout
Interesting! I really like it. Sometimes I feel no one ever comes up with new original ideas, but this band surely spices up the realm of metal. Musically refreshing!
That was absolutely fucking atrocious. Where to start? Awful drum machine, awful vocals, sound quality, bad and inconsistent songwriting....dear lord.
@Kilgorin10 yeah, about that, i believe the whole point of breakbeat (which is what i would say is the inspiration) is inconsistancies creating a rythm, and if you understood any of the words, congrats.
I do not understand why so many people dislike the classification Metal subgenres. It is a sign of the superior diversitity within the genre, somethig to be venerated NOT shuned becauase, people feel it is 'k00l' to say "stop classifyin an jus list3n to da music! - derp".
It's like those conTroll freak dickheads why say swearing is a sign ov a bad vocabulary. Though having said all that, not liking a band does not mean it is instanly (blank)Core. EndRant.
Mulk and Noisism are two death/electronic bands worth checking out. Mulk are more intense, Noisism are more tech sounding. These guys are the best example of this sort of thing that I've heard though.
pretty good. You might also want to check out Phantomsmasher (formerly Atomsmasher). Although they sound more like an electronic version of Naked City jazzcore grind.
Curse of the Golden Vampire is still the best example I've ever heard combining extreme metal with extreme techno. Probably because Justin Broadrick and Kevin Martin have been heavily involved in both sides of the crossover. The Mass Destruction album sounds like a band that has fully absorbed all influences, not a self-conscious crossover like most of these hybrids do.
That makes no sense. You don't just redefine a genre name based on one band. You could say "this is metalcore, but the 'core' from digital hardcore, not punk hardcore."
There is a problem though with the liberties of the "core" suffix. Not only is it non-intuitive whether its referring to hardcore punk derived music or a style of hardcore techno music, but all the various metal permutations of it fail to convey which original "core" it was building upon.
Genre labels are useful if there's a large enough scene innovating in a particular style or as an umbrella term for a number of unrelated artists mining similar territory.
Sure, you can get pretty absurd with genre definitions (some people don't understand the difference between describing an artist's particular style and referencing a legitimate sub-genre). Calling a (crappy) band like Attack! Attack! "crabcore" is ridiculous because they are, as of now, the only band that plays that "style."
The same can be said for a lot of the sub-sub-sub-styles of black metal and death metal people try to describe. Sometimes, though, it's useful to denote that a good number of bands in a given genre play a style that sounds different than the originators of that genre. (Does Suffocation sound like Morbid Angel? Both are death metal.)
Yeah, maybe, but the thing is that it's kinda boring to see metal sub-sub-subgenres like trve grim kvlt über dark doom glitch grind black metal (ov doom)...
Plus it's reductive and depreciatory to call whourkr "glitch metal" or "cybergrind" or something else. It's more than that, and partly abstractive.
I don't see how Whourkr is abstract at all. On the contrary, it's quite layered and "full" as it were.
Plus the term "abstract art" is itself a definition, and there is plenty you can define within abstract art. For instance, there are Duchamp's readymades and then there are Jackson Pollack's paintings.
Yeah, thanks, I know what abstract art refers to. What is the point to this ridiculous name dropping? This is somehow the worst argument i've ever seen. "Abstract art is vague, i know two abstract artist, so i'm right and you're wrong.
Think what you want. I don't care. If you consider whourkr beeing concrete/tangible, that's good for you. Really.
But if you want to convince others, try having non-sophist lines of reasoning
Umm... don't see how I'm being sophist. I disagree with your definition of abstract art and your opinion that Whourkr's style is undefinable.
I only "name-dropped" two people, and your characterization of my argument shows that you missed my point - which was that there's nothing "undefinable" about abstract art. It's a category like other things.
And I disagree that Whourkr's music is undefinable or abstract. To me, abstract music means something like Throbbing Gristle or even Stockhausen. Whourkr's music is quite complex and fleshed out compared to those.
It also seems fairly obvious that Whourkr's sound is derived from death metal and breakcore. I know you seem to really want to believe they are this mind-blowingl original, undefinable band, but in reality, their musical heritage is pretty clear.
@ardley216 Actually it's a natural process of the mind that seeks to sort information and provide a mechanism to recall it through association based on schema.
@AbdulElRazad lol, no, genres are not a mark of mental limitation. perhaps you've been fooled into thinking genres are used proactively to create music? no, they're used retroactively to define music and make it easier to categorize and archive.
@Grakkis Yeah well, thank you captain obvious, I haven't thought of that at all.
I know genres are not actively used to create music and that they are just given by a bunch of freaking nerds that think it is nice when everything falls into a good clean organized genre, and a subgenre, and a sub sub genre et caetera.
Well, the news it that nothing really truly can be categorized and classified. Classification is a form of comparison, and therefore cannot truly be exact, except, of course when
@Grakkis ... speaking about copypasta, because every single band is slightly different from the others, even those that have influenced it.
The point is that classification itself isn't such a bad thing, but I was talking about "Systematic systematization", which you can understand as the fact to classify everything you find, without asking yourself any question, kind of over-classification. Some stuff definitely fall under a determined category, and some don't, why wanting to...
@AbdulElRazad no, it isn't. i don't know who told you this, but without classifying music people wouldn't be able to describe a sound and therefore would not be able to relate acts to others. say, for example, you listen to slayer. perhaps you wish to listen to bands like slayer? then you look for thrash metal, because that's what slayer plays. is this making sense to you yet?
@Grakkis Nevermind, you, sir, are missing the point, and therefore making my own. Do you know what manicheism is? You view things only in black and white, without recognizing the existence of every single shade of grey that exists. Over classification is kind of the same thing: You make things fall into defined categories, thus denying them to have nuances. Another metaphor would use thermodynamics and infitesimal variations of, for instance, entropy, which is ever-changing. But, hey, nevermind
@AbdulElRazad no, mancheism would be calling it electronic music. the subgenres are there FOR the nuances, not to deny them recognition... on topic, what would you say if someone asked what sort of music Whourkr plays? 'Abstract art'? gee, that would definitely clear things up, huh?
It said "Comment. Subscribe" on the video but I read "commit suicide" xD Love this band so much <3
