it amazes me that no one has ever tabbed his work. I've tried to pay this for years, but it's just too insane- this is harder than eruption, joe pass, robert johnson, anything. His phrasing was perfect
@johngoo343 You can't learn Mike's licks from tab, they would probably come out sounding sterile, you just have to soak it up by playing along, and Mike playes a little bit in front of the beat.
@johngoo343 i know bro, but just to have a starting off point would be nice, I know hoe to read actual notation, and have trained my ear for playing, just would be nice to have the tabs
@Fladavenue You can't learn Mike's licks by tab, If you learn his licks from tab it would probably sound sterile, you have to just soak it up over and over, play along.

i've gotten up to 3:08 (time)(albert's shuffle!!!)
but, i can only play one full song (public performance level), and that's dear mr. fantasy, and i'm only been playing for a year! take pity! but two months ago for my 13th bday i got a cherry burst epi les paul custom.
I love that tune and you play it very well. Great tone too, I can't believe your going thru a solid state amp, that's great! I used to have an Acoustic 150 with a 412 cab that weighed a ton especially loaded with 4 EV SRO's. I used a 50 watt Marshall head instead of the Acoustic amp.
yes i know that on a message board we're all experts, what ever was i thinking. long live the ability to stand tall behind text comments!!! Out the window with my guitar - on to the flute! . . .now to find that flutist forum. . .
Please, I've spent hours trying to get down the lick of the first 4 seconds of the song, please clarify for me before I go crazy!!! You own this song!
Man! I have ALWAYS wondered how he played that - your feel is FLAWLESS. Post more! Oh, and do me a favor - do search for the Spotted Dog Blues Band for my band - MORE POWER TO THE BLUES! Also, if you're anywhere near Sacramento, come sit in with us, I would LOVE to play with somebody like you!
Thanks for your kind comment, I will post more soon, I wore out my first camera, and about to get my second, If I am in Sacramento I will look you up, or if you get to New Orleans you can play with my band.
On the radio, I know Bloomfield's guitar from the first few notes. Very few guitarists are that unique. He had beautiful tone and energy on the stage too (saw him with the Electric Flag). Your copy is DARN good. The best copy I have seen live is Chris Cain of the SF Bay Area -- he brings Bloomfield back to life when he plays with the Robben Ford (and brothers) Band in their tribute album to Bloomfield
In person, Cain plays all different styles, but when he plays with the Ford Brothers, I swear, I can close my eyes and it Bloomfield. And he uses a gold top Les Paul when he "does" Bloomfield that also looks alot like Bloomfield's. I live in Sacramento, so I'll have to look up the Spotted Dog Blues Band too.
Wow, few people can emulate Mike Bloomfield with it sounding halfway decent, and you do a great job. He's probably my favorite guitarist (at the moment, at least). Also, I saw another video that you recorded of Mike Bloomfield's "If You See My Baby", and I'm wondering, could I borrow all of your records indefinetly? :p
Thanks man, you have to play just a bit in front of the beat to cop Bloomfield licks, let me know if there is record that you want me to post, I have other Bloomfield records in storage too.
It isn't just that though, it's the phrasing and the notes that most people, when it comes to the blues, are completely ignorant of. Like the major 6ths he throws in flawlessly. Most guitarists stick to the pentatonic with the tritone in there, but Bloomfield seems to play what he feels, working outside of the pentatonic so much. And that isn't even beginning to mention his rhythm work. One thing about Bloomfield that you don't see much in blues soloists is his ability to know when to be quiet.
Straight off the potato farm in Idaho at 18 (in 1969), hearing this solo for the first time was a life changing experoence for me and now in 2007 it is more poignant than ever. You've got it nailed, man. Keep up the good work.
Could you please keep your Dad outta this? Those of us who are lucky enough to remember the album first hand don't want to be reminded of WHEN...keep playin' tho.
Very nice! I just wish it was longer.

Very nice Bloomfield licks. I'm equally impressed by the tone you're getting out of that 335. What amp are you using? Pedals, if any? Thanks.

That is fabulous. This piece ought to be required learning for all serious guitar students, regardless of their genre focus.
"Albert's Shuffle" is a gorgeous minuet...
