The part the pisses me off the most about christian/non-christian bands:
Religion should NEVER define your music, and define yourself. Only you can can express and lead your life, with some sort of belief as your aid or not.
Music is an expression, not a definite definitive.
I personlly dont think it matters if they are christain or not. If they write music that is good ill listen to it. Im a christain and I dont judge athiests, MOST of my friends are athiest. I think most athiests should do the same. I judge them as a person, not in their beliefs.
Christian and secular bands touring together is fine, but I don't understand why you would have a Christian tour and then throw a secular band in there to play for a bunch of Christians. As a Christian, I don't think that's fair to the non-religious band, they have the right to advertise their own non-belief just as much as a Christian has the right to advertise his or her belief. They should not have had to censor themselves.
I believe in god and can't deny I love the lyrics, theyr awesome.....I am the whit horse that death rode in on I drove the first nail in the cross. Good shit
Vincent seems like a cool guy, but I think he would be cooler if he realized he didn't have to be so pessimistic about the human capacity for love and change. I think he's creating a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy when he talks about how you get angrier when you get older. You can tell he has empathy for the human condition by the way he talks about racism drug use, and imagining what it might have been like for christians on tour. I think he as a great capacity for love.
I was really shocked and disappointed when he talked about the band being the odd ones out on that 09' tour. I didn't think about it before, but, I even went to a show on that tour, and thinking back, I realize that no one really did talk to them or anything(from what I saw). And that was really wrong of the other three bands to do. I'm saddened to hear this.
thanks for the well done interview, learned alot about the voice behind the music I love and admire on a daily or weekly basis. Feels comforting to know your not alone in the world with your aggression. your words, insights, thoughts and art are a big part of your fans everyday lives. Your music has tought us to keep an open mind about whats been pressed upon you and to question lots of things about this planet and to do what moves YOU!!!!! YOU ARE THE SHIT "THE ACACIA STRAIN" METAL FORVER
Sheesh. I've only watched two interviews of him. The tattoo one and this and wow is all I can say. I've been listening to TAS for about a year or two now but it's absolutely uncanny how alike him and I are. I'd swear he was my older brother if it wasn't impossible my dad got someone pregnant when he was 12 lol.
lol interviewer saying 'why do christian bands say they believe in jesus trying to make sure everyone knows they do?" mean while she's wearing a straight edge hoodie, like anyone gives a shit, fuckin hypocrite.
@PittedSoPitted92 Im pretty sure Vincent gave it to her, he does have a straight edge clothing company, Diamond Cut, Ive seen it sold at their shows If you were a real fan of the band you would know this.
what i dont understand is why in every interveiw ive seen or article ive read about vincent and TAS besides his tattoo int. the interveiwer always makes a big portion of the whole segment about religion. like forreal get a set of questions and only use abut 3 or 4 that have to do with religion and aks a dude about ohter things.
He doesnt want to offend christians yet he says...."How do you still believe in god?" Thats like a punch in the face lol I love TAS but I think we should just leave religion out of music and listen .
i hate the fact that all metalheads/hardcore kids are refered to as kids...ya mabe the "deathcore" and "pop punk" scene is mostly kids but i see older people at shows every time i go...and im 21 idk if that makes me not a kid any more but fuck it i love heavy music...prolly always will.
i can't wait till this "christian band" phase passes.... it's lame that bands use that title just to gain fans and to make a name for themselves instead of letting their music do that for them. and yes, it is a phase, up until 2005, maybe 2004, there was no such thing as a christian band, it was just bands with christians in them. labels like the christian label are unnecessary. great interview
@volcomfr3ak new jersey, right? i saw him live as well, props for being one of the people who saw the acacia strain yesterday over attack attack cas they were playing the same time
@crunkchicken10109 Christianity is shit. This is a bold, insulting statement, I know. But, I made it to prove a point. No Christian on this earth is going to be willing to not take this opinion as is -- an opinion. They're all gonna' start a flame war against Atheism and attack me in every way they feel they should. Furthermore proving our point. . .
@Dezpikable feuding over religion in the comment section of a video would be pointless. so when someone insults my beliefs like that, i completely ignore it. haha
I was raised Catholic, but broke away since organized religion is full of corruption. I have a personal relationship with God (religion-free) and now I feel more positive about people's differences. I'm not here on earth to judge anybody because I think people have the right to choose. I respect Vincent's opinions and to me it doesn't matter what a band's beliefs are, as long as they're good people who make good music. In a world of conflict, music unites us.
@disfiguredhope Thank you very much, that's nice to hear. I have to say myself that even though I'm atheist, some of my favorite bands are Christian bands, and even though I don't agree with their beliefs, I still respect their talents a lot and love the music they make - after all, there's much more to a person than their religious beliefs.
Easily the smartest man on Earth. I fucking love Vincent. He has influenced me so much as a person, and I don't think i'll ever like another band more than TAS.
@bayonetwork42 don't know where you're getting that from; vincent was very comfortable and even said that he wanted to post the interview on their facebook as soon as it was done. do you think he would have looked directly into the camera and asked how people can still believe in god in 2011 if he wasn't comfortable..? that's ok though; we're prepared to get a lot of hate from christians who don't like to hear that there are people out there who think that we would be better off without religion
