  • Modern Cooking?

  • LOL @ hicks 1/2 pound of hay to clean up 2 tablespoons of oil...

  • Somebody has to get this to Keith Olberman at MSNBC he or Rachel Maddow would run with this and they would get the attention of somebody who could fund it.

  • the amount of hay would be insane! but if it works lets get all those oil farmers to start farming the hay we need. Shutting down all drilling sounds like the perfect plan! So 1/4 pound of hay to what? 1 cup of oil?

  • Sheep's wool is far more absorbent and should be considered if they would consider throwin' and trollin' hay.

  • too bad theres no way to tell bp of this, they won't listen

  • that looks delicious!

  • if ya'll had bothered to do any research you'd know they are already using this type of solution - among others - to clean up the spill. They have these things called "booms" which are just hair, fur in a netted material (discarded pantyhose mostly) floating on the water. People are donating their clipped hair and animal groomers are collecting their clippings as well. Hair works better than vegetable matter because it doesn't degrade in the water. Hay and grass does.

  • BP would not allow this because they would be losing lots of oil on the hay, or lets call un-recoverable oil, especially if it got burned in massive piles. As it sits, BP wants to try and recover all that money floating in the gulf. Personally, I like this idea though, and I think there should be lots of volunteers to go down and do it. If I had the equipment, I would help out for sure.

  • You boys have that much hay?????Get to work!!! You can right a book afterwards and make your millions!!!!

  • Are we supposed to really believe that BP... can get this problem fixed? August??? I'll bet if ALL oil drilling etc. was required to stop until this leak was fixed, it would be fixed in 24 hours.

  • @easy530 Do you understand how many farmers produce hay? All over the world too.

  • hahah hillbillies trying to get rich.

  • These sirs are so cute, and as well so brilliant!

Great idea. This is what a brilliant idea is, man!

I didn't get if the water they used is salty or not. If not, would it change the behavior?

    Great work guys!

  • Wow....with that purport ion of hay to water, you would need mega tons of hay to clean this fucking mess up...

  • this a good idea, but its BS because we honestly dont need oil for fuel, a European car company made a electric battery that can go over 500 miles per full charge, and then Mistubishi bought them out. Its BS how these companies can hold man kind back from success.

  • BP and the POWERS that BE,, do not want the Gulf oil cleaned up yet. The AGENDA has not yet been fully finished.

To me and many others I talk to, anything and everything that happens anymore in the US appears planned, staged or just ??.

Still dont have real info on the initial explosion.

Why arent they doing something drastic RIGHT NOW besides spraying more toxic shit onto existing toxic shit? The guys in this vid make more sense than ANYONE I have heard on this matter.

    JUST DO IT

  • lol thats awesome. O_O'

they kinda dont sound like they would come up with that by themselves LOL

im sorry but ya. no offense to anyone ploxors (:

  • ....

  • man knows his hay

  • oh, so 6inches of water needs 6inches of hay? well i guess we have enough to make a whole oceans worth of hay to mix in with it....

  • You guys get better results than BP. Once the spilll is capped (if it can be), your solution should work pretty good.

  • The only reason why nobodys ideas are taken into consideration is that BP cant make any money from this, its about money, now Bp will take tankers and suck up the seawater and the oil and then run it through a filter to seperate the oil and water. This way BP can salvage the oil to sell.

  • these men are birlliant and deserve the nobel prize or whatever kinda award they can get

  • Does anyone know if this has been put to the test in the contaminated areas, especially around the wildlife and bird sanctuaries?

It might work and it would be great to know that SOMEONE gave it shot.

  • Makes sense to me?

  • and then what is done with the hay?

    see:

    risingtidenorthamericaDOTorg/wordpress/category/front-page/

  • A much better idea than spraying toxic chemicals that don't remove the oil. How much are chemical dispersants costing and who's making money off it?

  • Perhaps if they had white lab coats and snooty East Coast dialect, this administration might actually take this seriously.

  • Good idea, need to see the test with salt water and with crude oil.

  • What the fuck that is great!!

  • Nice, but should be tested before applying. Should also do risk assessment. Is there enough hay to absorb the continuous spew of crude? Will there be enough hay left over to feed livestock? Will it drive up costs for hay/meat? Will sea creatures eat the contaminated hay? Will it destroy fishing nets? Who bears the costs (BP will pass the costs on to consumers). On the other hand, could be a good time to buy stock securities in hay. What companies sell hay stock?

  • I dont think they realize how big this spill is....

  • I am in agreement with you xzaz2 but until we completely replace the use of fossil fuel, we should use EPA registered Green products that will lower the usage by improving gas mileage and lowering emissions. Check out this YouTube video /Bring2Help2#p/a

  • @Bring2Help2 EPA green program (ethanol) is a fraud & is increasing food costs. The Øbowmao EPA will ony raise taxes & further destroy the U.S. economy. This leak is bad but maybe if Ø & Emanuel hadn't taken $ from them & OVER relaxed safety standards we wouldn't be here. We need an ALL & EVERYTHING approach & stop this BS over "green tech". See Germany DISMANTLING windpower....France has nukes. & China is STILL drilling in the Gulf of Mex.

  • Great finding solutions how to resolve this problem.. we should solve the problem that we are using this stuff in the first place...

  • Sometimes the simpler solutions are the best. This solution has merit. Please also check out our recycled product that never sinks and locks up all the oil including removing the sheen. MOP, Maximum Oil Pickup, sorbent and solutions,

  • LOL

  • They can have all of my lawn clippings if it'll help!!!

  • You guys are simply brilliant. Sure better than the chemical solutions they are using now. I'd like to see the test done with salt water and crude plus salt water and whatever that orange colored stuff is that is the byproduct of the chems they spray on the crude.

  • yea Joni, what do you suggest, walking on the beach and scraping the oil tar balls off your feet into a bucket?

  • Why do you say this is stupid. Looks like a good idea to me.

  • u guys are fucking idiots

  • @joni2156 how so?

  • @joni2156 ...that's a brilliant response! what is YOUR solution?
