I always thought music was about the spaces between the notes...the guitar and bass player's expressions sums up my take on this (bored shitless) There is no doubt Jason is a virtuoso...more power to him..really... all the best..but the blues idiom is basically a feel thing. Talk too fast and too much.. no one listens.
We all have the right to express opinions, but clearly to me you do not know Ricci´s music yet, maybe one day you´ll be lucky enough to feel his music the way I do. It brings me a feeling that I can hardly describe in words!!!JASON FUCKIN ROCKS and NO ONE , I mean NO F***** ONE can rock the harmonica like him.
Shawn and Todd weren't remotely 'bored'. At that particular show (I was there), they were simply taking a well-deserved break while Jason took this solo -it WAS a harmonica convention. The audience was transfixed and listening intently...everyone from chromatic players to diatonic blues pros and amateurs. Robert Bonfiglio, the classical harmonica virtuoso actually got down on his knees, extended his arms and 'bowed' smilingly to Jason. HE 'got it'..we all did. It was a brilliant performance.
Absolutely. I get tired of the stupid comments made purely because someone needs to satisfy their negative emotions. Jealousy has to be the real reason. But any harp player who's actually seen Jason perform Live would never post a negative comment. Those who see him always walk away in awe of just how freaking good he is.
I'm lauging harpo! Thank you so much...I just played on a Walter Trout recording where the songs lyrics actually talk about the noodle comment guy!!! thanks for getting it my man! i owe you coffee.

He's got a wonderful virtuosity, no doubt about it. But it ain't just the notes, it's what they SAY.
Not dissing the young dude, though. Clearly he's worked hard for his chops and deserves his props.
