Connie Francis was a popular singer in the 60's. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice. She sang both beautiful ballads and cutesy rock'n roll songsl.
"Embraceable You" was one of her many beautiful ballads.
in Dawn French's book she said that if she had to choose Desert Island Disc songs then this would be on there. which i think is a great coincidence since RA is her hubby in The Vicar of Dibley! :)
What a very real pleasure it is to hear a female singer singing a song "straight" and not subjecting it to the "vocal acrobatics" which almost seem to be compulsary these days. When you have a great voice and a great song, you don't need a lot more. This is pitched just right. Lovely, lovely, lovely.
Sparkhouse is well worth watching. RA's character, John Standring, is so touching. He's so kind and gentle and wants nothing more than to be with Carol. It's quite sad but very good.
American actors do not compare to such leading men: Richard Armitage, Collin Firth, Toby Stephens, David Tennant, just to name a few. They are all perfection when they look at their romantic counter parts in film and television.
Hi! Glad you enjoyed the video! That scene is from a BBC drama called Sparkhouse. It was a modern take on the story Wuthering Heights. I thought Richard would be an excellant modern Heathcliff when I read about the drama but it turned out he played the modern character role of Edger
Thanks for the reply! I have heard about his role in Sparkhouse (I heard it was quite good) but never knew it was a modern take on Wuthering Heights, so I appreciate the explanation. Is it worth watching?
Wow! Great compilation Becky;) Where is that 0:19 scene from? He looks gorgeous there and those blue eyes *thud* I liked that delightful song as well;) 5/5!
Glad you liked it! That scene is from 'The impressionists' when he played Cluade Monet - RA was fab in this so if you haven't seen it get a copy! I swear his eyes look more blue in this then in his other shows I guess because of the cinematography with the subject about art! More gorgeous eyes, you can't look away from! hehe thanks again :)

Such an intense gaze Richard has.
