  • I love the way Croce gives the audience exactly the classic version they're all waiting and hoping for.... too bad more performers today don't realize what the audience is wanting to hear!

  • I only became really aware of Jim Croce's music after hearing about his death on the radio the day it happened. I was 10 years old at the time. The station I usually listened to played a few of his songs back-to-back after the announcement, and I was hooked immediately. I've been a fan ever since. I had the pleasure of meeting his widow Ingrid a few years ago. That's her lovely voice you hear doing the harmonies in so many of his songs.

  • Wait a minute. People back in the day played live relying only on skill, talent, and creativity? No auto pitch correction? No lip-synching? No synthesizers? No dancers flying all over the place in ridiculous costumes? Get outta here, this cannot be real.

  • I wasn't alive long enough to listen to him, but he's great!

  • Mario's and Luigi's real life father

  • GREAT FIND!!! Thank you for the upload!

  • Told you not to mess round wit phatso!

  • beautiful memories from the master Jim Croce..

  • damn straight@james48906

  • Jim's Beautiful

  • this is talent beyond talent

  • Gorgeous lyrics and a great tune. Jim was a master storyteller with an unforgettable voice. Jim and Maury made it sound like a whole band was playing.

  • love the leads in this version

  • damm he was so good what a shame he was taken that young

  • Happy Birthday Jim

  • This song is as good as the singer is ugly.

  • @baginamonolog haaa, yea, but it was a cool kind of ugly he had.

  • @Lpitt56 that's the attitude that has ruined the music industry. First thing execs looks for are good looks. Sometimes, rarely now, people are just so damn good that their music goes right to the top.

  • @getgoodusa woops! i meant to reply to baginamomolog!

  • @getgoodusa. I hope you did not misunderstand my post. I agree with you 100%, and Jim had more talent and coolnest in one of his fingernail clipping than the pretty boys today.

  • @baginamonolog I don't know why you think he's ugly, he comes from an italian family, & in my mind his looks are completely consistent with southern italians & sicilians. He used to have short close-cropped hair when he was younger, so he definitely looks better with long curly hair and a handlebar mustache. I got to meet his wife last night, & his son was playing piano in the jazz bar next door. Great restaurant, good food with a nice atmosphere in downtown San Diego.

  • @Stentor7 I never cared what he looked like, he just set my soul on fire with his music. I can listen to him all day and then still hit replay. He was such a GREAT.

  • What a legend.........awesome!

  • This is how music is supposed to be, it's a shame all the great artist's die before their time.

  • 15 fags looking for the dr. dre channel

  • I love litening to this song back the day when it was frist hit in the 70's,but it was best along side my best friend who was so cool.

  • Takin from this world way to soon a loss we will never know smiling down on his wife and son rip jim would have been a pleasure to meet you

  • Nice song RIP jim croce

  • Fuck Remastered. The classics aren't classic unless they're in their classic form

  • You don't tug on superman's cape

  • Is that Jim's "Tim Reynolds" ? =)

  • ONe Word " NICE"!!!

  • Clearly, he was sinbging about me in this song..........

  • Fucking awesome

  • Great Song Jim? Probably based on real characters in this town , that bite the big apple daily.

  • a song that'll keep on keepin' on!

  • Isn't this just about the same thing as "Bad Bad Leroy Brown"? I know the lyrics and tune are different, but the idea is that there is some badarse guy who nobody wants to screw around with cause he's amazing.

    Still an awesome song.

  • @morningstar241 Just noticed the favorited comment, sorry folks.

And sorry Majin72 for stealing your thunder...

  • @jsemon2 - "Jim got it handed to him" after he was out of high school by a punk with a knife and gun. Who is bitter for being stupid enough to lose all his money gambling on pool. Also a guy named JIM sings this awesome song titled "You Don't Mess Around With Jim"....... annnnnnd now; twelve haters possibly named "slim".

  • Sorry, his son's initials are A.J., not A.C.!

  • I visited Croce's bar and grill in downtown San Diego in the mid to late 1980's, even got to hear AC, his son play a bit at the piano...great stuff! Get the chance I'd go back again, he left a legacy!

  • SEXY

  • good song

  • The quality of this is amazing!

  • I love Jim Croce's work still today, and the look of PURE JOY on his face as he's performing is awesome...(!). RIP Brother(!).

  • My dad's name is Jim hmmmm or Jim Croces' verison MmmMMMmm

  • Nine People got their butts kicked in high school by a guy named Jim!!!

  • Please list to my tune about Maury, and his sister mary, in the spirt of Jim and Maury,, I have listen and play their music for years..

  • great tune, love croce and Maury,,

  • 9 Jim thugs didn't like this (sry but I had to make the omni present joke)

  • Chuck Norris killed his record player when listening to this song. Don't mess with Chuck

  • Perfection. I can never see enough, I keep coming back for more. Croce was the greatest. So much talent, unbelievable. Sad to know he had only just begun entertain us. I still hurt when I think about the loss. RIP Jim & Maury.....

  • great song, and there is no swearing or sexual overtones in this video

  • @petrolpete100 No, only a man getting beaten, stabbed, and shot to death...

  • what happen to songs that tell storys?

  • @delly659 you obviously only listen to mainstream music or someshit. Cos there is plenty.

  • @TheCubbyJ I feel that the complete and utter disrespect for other's opinion is a window into your personality. Just because someone doesn't share the same opinion as you or listen to the same music doesn't make them "Shit" just different. I'm not a fan of pop music, but I'll fight to the death for the right to listen to it. It's ignorant, close-minded people like you that mess this beautiful world up.

  • @delly659 right on man or just good song why do the good die yuong

  • @kolb6890 I agree man!! Too many taken Too soon!! Hendrix, Joplin, Croche, Morrison Too many...Too many!!

  • 8 ppl messed with Jim and Slim :D

  • top shelf mutha f*ckers

  • sweet song 1 of my favorites

  • @Sebachoooo so he was actually slim?

  • Only 8 people with no understanding of some damn good r&b. That's okay. They'll learn to appreciate the beauty of this music one day. :-)

  • @kansasisaband the funny thing is they dont realize they love what moves them...thanks for the comment btw

  • dam now this is some good r&b folks!

my third time listening to this one...

even the video is cool, look how much he enjoys singing this.

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx DAMN dude. I don't know if you were watching, but this video? Dude, it is some damn good r&b bro. OMG. :-)

  • @kansasisaband i say something wrong?

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx LOL...no...I was actually admiring your comment so much, I had to repeat it! You nailed it man, they just don't know what they're listening to! May this be our best year ever. 2011 will be remembered as the year that changed world. Peace.

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx oh thanks kansasisaband...

  • These guys had depth. There are people that make fun of Jim and his songs but these guys had deep talent. The acoustic playing, the writing......if others don't see that........ Man, it would of been great to see what else they turned out if he was still living

  • Unequaled to this day!!!

  • "don't spit into the wind" good words to live by.

  • @lowfive100 And you also should not blow your nose when you are facing into the wind.

  • great artist

  • This is beautifully remastered, well done! Thank you so much for this great song, I love Jim Croce and his music , he is a classic. Thanks for sharing.

  • thanks for this great song im missing mississippi lady

  • you will be missed!

  • bloody amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BORAT:D

  • Excellent song, Thank you

  • I remember this song very good, now thats is what i call music and a very good vocalist. Thanks for uploading this.

  • The man was so good it's almost weird....

  • Jim brought folk music together with the realities of urban life in a unique way that no one else ever has.... and he did not have to use filth and profanity like today's alleged "talent" do.... What a shame that he passed on so early....

  • @wnyvideo well said....i only pray the music i listen to rubs off on my kids as my mothers music has done on me...these days it might be asking a lot though lol

  • @xxdjcharlierockxx Thank you for your comment, Charlie. It is why we, as parents, must be sure from the earliest age on to keep our children from today's garbage, and to provide excellent alternatives. It is so sad that there is essentially nothing current worthwhile to introduce kids to...

  • this song is like most mainstream rap without all of the nonsense, and instead of a bunch of jackasses bragging about how much money they have.

essentially its jim croce talking about a bad ass named jim. just a great song

  • @drb622bucs The song follows the same format of Bad Bad Leroy Brown, painting a tough picture of a guy in the first half, then pulling him violently down to the ground in the second half by someone they made the mistake of crossing.

I guess you could say the moral is that there's always a bigger, badder fish, so best to watch your manners. Great stuff and we need more like him.

  • THIS SONG IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • A True timeless talent!

  • My all time music hero

  • what is really cool is he sang about the streets before a lot of performers dared do this.

  • Just a man and his guitar...Optional stool of course

  • Jim is the best singer song writer and performer that has ever lived and the reason that I do what I do check out my bands tribute to Jim Croce at outofthinair1 on youtube

  • Just classic...

  • one of my personal heroes

  • Old chinese proverb say's your heart only beats so many beats, then it stops

  • A man can only live so long. Everyone's time comes. God decided it was Jim's time to go.

  • visit bit-ly-993y8E for more jim croce songs

  • i think he would still be relevent today absolute tradgedy

  • he wrote this song after a real run in with a true pool hustler and ten stiches later and 21 steps down and out he wrote the song this man wrote what he lived and thats why 100 years from now people will know who he was bigger then robert zimmerman in my eyes he was a poet

  • The seven who dislike this...YOU SUCK!

  • This musice was cool when it came out and it still is today... It always brings a smile to my face...

  • All it took was a guitar and a good voice to make great music.

  • Back in the time's of Jim, you didn't need light's and firework's. The Musician was the light's and their music was the firework's. Great Time's thankyou Jim...R.I.P

  • most singers today are fags or fag enablers...

  • Such a tragedy that a plane messed with "JIM" in the worst way.

    RIP, Mr. Croce.

  • Jim Croce: Singer/ Songwriter by day, Persian nightclub owner by night.

  • those 7 dislikes on the video must be baby bieber fans

  • Amazing. A sight I never thought possible-- a music video page on Youtube completely devoid of Bieber-related comments. Why? Bieber fans stay away from real music like Jim Croce.

  • That stash...lol

  • Fuck Slim, he tried to hustle Jim and lost.

  • Gotta Love Jim Croce! So much talent and gone way too soon, Love ya Jim.

  • You can't get much more live than this, 2 guitars and a voice, and listen

to how good it is, and it doesn't look like he's even trying all that hard.

  • At any given time i have his cds loaded in my truck and listen to them daily!! I love his music, such a loss and a promising future!!

  • it's a damn shame he died at 30. Think of the songs he would've eventually written that we don't get to hear. But I guess we got the ones we have now and they are enough to make me lament his loss

  • what 6 mutherfuckin dirtbags voted thumbs down on this?

  • @duknud Im gunna find 'em

  • @duknud People who don't like quality music.

  • @duknud People who are jealous that Croce could sing without auto-tune unlike their favorite Jonas Brothers

  • @duknud one year later and only 3 more dislikes brother. :D

  • @duknud Someone who wouldn't know good music if it fucked them up the ass... Jim Croce is one ugly mofo, yet he was famous for his music. That's the problem today, everything is about image and gimmicks and NEVER the music anymore. If he tried to get started around today, he'd be nobody because he's not some pretty boy... God, I hate modern entertainment. It's so shallow and lame.

  • could you enable embedding?

  • ok im only 17 but this music is a million times better than whats on the radio... if music nowadays was half as good as this the world would be a much better place

  • @93rdSinner word, nigga

  • this song was about showing people RESPECT...artists nowadays have no idea what that word even means!

  • Any chance you are planning on making The Last American Hero Clip Live again? We used to watch it daily and miss it.

  • @neths419 OK.

  • @maxstratos Please, where can I find this live clip daily!?!?? :-)

  • @LindaLuigi Best Buy @ about 7 bucks "Have You Heard"

  • @neths419 who u talkin to jim or uh maxstratos cuz uh.....jims.....uh....yeah.....:(

  • @neths419 lol

  • Great guy ..

  • fabolous ....thanks jim xxxxx

  • Wicked stash...not too many can carry a moustache like that. Love his smile too!

  • He looks like a young Bob Kevouyan from the Bob and Tom show. Take a look.

  • word to live by the 4 thing you just don't do........tug on supermans cape.......spit into the wind......pull the mask off o'l lone ranger......and you don't mess around with jim

  • He died to soon

  • i am really glad we had him around as long as we could

  • A Classic from way back when!

  • THIS IS THE SHIT RIGHT HERE-BADASS!

  • effortless fun

  • Man i'm only 17 and this is still my fav with Jim Croce man if only i could have meet him, it would have been a dream i love his' music(: you gotta love this guy! :D

  • Does he remind anyone of luigi from the mario bros?

  • simple brilliance

  • Jim Croce was in a league by himself!! No one around to replace that kind of talent. A great song writer as well. Rest easy Jim Croce. We wont forget you.

  • @Aliendear whys that

  • Jim Croce's mustache was boss. Get's my vote for best 'stache ever. God I love his tunes.

  • @lambdachi1826

    his nose too

  • @daresound : hahaha...absolutely!

  • Man! Maury is jammin! To bad no one really looked at maury,It was always Jim.

Jim loved Maury & would want us to give him some credit, So here it is,

Thank you Maury, Your talent didn't go unnoticed, R.I.P. You know Jim & Maury are tearing it up in Heaven. Can't wait to hear them live!

  • @bobnegro1

    I join in saluting Maury.

  • @bobnegro1 Actually Jim used to back Maury, this shifted later on.

But yes, he deserves our deepest respect.

  • Jim Croce, Wow! What a great artist and song!! Real talent with no studio enhancement. Unlike anything being done today. If you take many of the so called musical artist of today and put them in a live setting, they would bomb and fall flat on their face!

  • Today's musicians have sold out, I agree. They are so into digital and digitalization. This is talent, something we see less and less of. I can't stand most of today's musicians - weak, pathetic and they give their music away - and their music sucks

  • You aint from around here are ya, you neva heerd no blues like dat what?

  • Thanks. This is an awesome video.

  • @AmbroseEpeeMaster, AMEN!!!!

  • Amazing what music actually sounds like. Maybe the recording artists today can learn something from the old legends.

  • @loveasia2much I agree, however since the Record Weasels can make a lot more money from 1 Lady Bieber then they can with 10 Jim Croces you're just going to get the same recycled crap from the music industry.

The good news is that since the technology has advanced to the point where it's affordable, and the internet is amazing for distribution, you can FIND the Jim Croces that are out there and hear them, and support them.

  • @BadlyBentPub Tried to give you a green thumb, lol. I'M new to this, I know I'm a dinosaur, How does it work? I like the comment.
