Guess were so used to seeing vids of American heroics that are made in the Hollywood dream factory, that it comes as a shock when we see them as narrow minded pompous idiots, pretending to be something the're not.. Reminds me of the film about the Enigma code, apparently according to Hollywood, we have the Yanks to thank for breaking it lmao.
To sum it up in a nutshell, John Wayne's real name was Marrion, fact.
All things considered, it is pretty implausible that such an event might actually take place. It hardly qualifies as a claim which needs to be actively disproven. It's funny, and that's all. For one thing, on a radar screen, I'm pretty sure that it would be obvious that the target wasn't moving. If a stationary target "changed its course" 15 degrees it would still be in the same place; and since a lighthouse can't move, there is no basis for such a conversation to have taken place.
People saying it isnt true are just Americans who cant accept the fact that they have been done over by a lighthouse... when I have heard the original recording given to the Royal Navy by the lighthouse keeper.
The fog was very thick, and the Chief Officer of the tramp steamer was peering over the side of the bridge. Suddenly, to his intense surprise, he saw a man leaning over a rail, only a few yards away.
"You confounded fool!" he roared. "Where the devil do you think your ship's going? Don't you know I've got the right of way?"
Out of the gloom came a sardonic voice:
"This ain't no blinkin' ship, guv'nor. This 'ere's a light'ouse!"
Apart various blogs and questionable websites, themselves not giving any reliable source, what are your sources to claim that it's legit? Before claiming anything to be true and actual, check the sources. This is how it works.
It's a plain old fake, and before that, a simple joke, check snopes.com/military/lighthouse.asp
Funny video though it never happened. Go to any hoaxbuster site like Snopes and they trace the history of the story back to the 1930s. The joke has been told and retold in many forms.
Just think for a second leonwiganer. Maybe this will help you understand a few things.
U.S. Aircraft carriers travel in task forces of dozens of ships that can be spread out over an area of many miles square. American carriers never travel alone.
They have lots of detailed maps, they have lots of navigational aids that include some very expensive GPS navigation systems and they have physical lookouts.
if it did happen in 1998 then rember that GPS were not as god as today so it might have happend and the physical lookouts can probely not see 2 miles a head of them.

I've already given sources to bust that urban legend. If you can't properly find out the truth by yourself and can't even read what people are giving you to read if it doesn't suit you, don't bother speaking to me.
I'm tired of repeating the same thing over and over again to dull people swallowing anything they read or see.
aw man stupid US Navy canceled building Montana BB-67 (shouldve been the 2nd largest vessel in the atlantic fleet) Maybe the navy saw this coming at them.
Gotta love the way people take a funny video and try to ruin it with politics. The video would have been just as good had they used a Royal Navy (or any navy for that matter) ship instead.
It's a shame that they didn't make an effort to find video clips of a battleship rather than a tin can.
