Using Automation in Cakewalk Sonar

I needed instructions on how to use automation on Sonar. Your video, words and illustration helped me learn how to do a volume envelope. After this lesson on Sonar I am able to create some of the sounds that I hear in my head.

so how do i use the step sequencer for other sonar intsruments as well??

Simply highlight the instrument track (of soft synth or whatever) and select step sequencer

Hi, I have the following equipments: dbx-166xl compressor, Rode NTK mic, Presonus mic preamp with phantom power, Alesis Multimix 8 USB with phantom power (i'm using this latter for audio interface). My question is how would you combine all this for the best sound quality? Lets not forget the compressors inside Sonar
