  • dat fucking bass sound

  • Kreig Kommt Zum Leipzig : Autismus Genocide (Quecksilber Kindervergiftung - Flickr: Autism Genocide).

War comes to Leipzig - Mercury Poisioning Against Western Children 1970's.

    UUURRRGGGHHH - Kinderschander!!

  • What a treat! Fantastic! All those who were assembled over there were extremely fortunate to experience this.

  • Oh man. This is so crazy.

  • Wow. I've loved this song for years. But for some reason, the line "every place is just the same, isn't it?" always made me think it was a negative thing, but then just tonight I put it in a new perspective. Sure, same ground, you work. but wow how different some new countries are. Despite the same hardships I had while I was overseas, there were new things to learn and enjoy. Made this song suddenly seem hopeful. Guess I was reading it wrong at first?

  • You are fantasic mr.dolby

  • Apple Newton meets Oberheimer.

  • I still wonder which idea led to Thomas Dolby producing a song about Leipzig, a city in then GDR. :) The Leipzig Trade Fair? Anyway it has recovered nowadays and has become a beautiful city again, especially in terms of air quality. ;)

  • Gods, that's wonderful! : )

  • id normally say the original is best but I enjoy this version much much more. I hope to catch him live..

  • @ahetza funny i get the thumbs down...i have to say.. Ive fallen in love with the original...more so than this version ..but this is still great nonetheless

  • Genius.

    I've always loved this song.

He's the only good thing to come out of the electronic 80's.

    Brilliant.

I'm going to play this to death.

  • HOLY KRAFTWERK

  • That's a fairly ignorant statement as this has almost nothing in common with the Kraftwerk sound.

  • The synthesizers are very kraftwek influenced in this song. There is another song that he does that is even more Kraftwerk .....In this song listen between 3:49and 4:04 Extremely Kraftwer. This is just how it is...get used to it pal LOL

  • He looks like Frankenberry (the US breakfast cereal character) with those goggles and overcoat...LOL! This is a great song. I love how he layers it all up.

  • Thomas Dolby hurt my Krenz!

  • ¡Un genio visionario del techno pop en ejecución!

A visionary techno pop genious performing!

  • Great .. the first video of urs that i see .. enjoyed .. ))

  • take note current losers with lappys . this is a master surrounded with the tools of his CRAFT yes music. no need to be on stage with a bunch of pointless dancers to ENTERTAIN us. ta Mr Dolby

  • I don't think he's Australian, but I think I detect an Australian accent here.

  • He is British and has been living in the Los Angeles, Ca area with his wife for many years.

  • "he gets there and realizes everywhere is the same"- There is no where on earth like Leipzig man!

  • Dolby was right when he wrote the song in the 80s - Leipzig was full of Honnecker-esque tower blocks that all looked the same!

  • I Love Thomas Dolby's Brilliant songs, but wish I could find the original of "Leipzig" as it sounded much more Haunting especially during the 80s when I first heard it when this WhiRrRL'd was Far Less 'free' than it is(n'T) today. Does anyone have the link to it ? Danke Schöen!

  • It's available on i-tunes...

  • Thanks. Do you know the exact link ? Is it free or for sale ?

  • Beautiful. This guy never ceases to amaze me. After all these years still full of tremendous talent.

  • somebody please post the original track of both this and "urges", the versions on the retrospectacle compilation. thank you.

  • Truly gorgeous song!...what a musician!...that section form 4.15 thru 4.19 just blows my mind every time...as good as it gets..isn't it?

  • my boyfriend and I went to see him while he was on this tour. it was awesome

  • His voice are at top at this moment.

  • I agree - he has only improved as a vocalist, all these years later...

  • One of Dolby's best. Download it from iTunes today.

  • Love the song, love the man!

The only music I ever related to!!!

  • Oh my GAWD! Thomas! It's GREAT to see you again! KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK!

  • I had the pleasure of opening for him in Memphis in the 80 with our band CalculatedX and got to have a short chat with him on his recent tour when he came here a couple years ago. He didn't remember being here in the 80's so I reminded him of the fact. Back in the day at sound check he exchanged files with our producer who at the time owned a fairlight synth. Thomas keep writing songs like suitcase and Leipzig.

  • I saw him do this live in Chicago (I didn't make the DVD).

    Mind blowing!

  • that's not thomas dolby. looks nothing like him. he's an impostor.

  • He's 20 years older. You'd expect him to have gained some weight and lost some hair.

  • Awesome! I wish I had his synth setup although I'm sure I'd be clueless trying to do it all like he does. T.D. is a genius!!

  • in my opinion one of his best songs. Great performance.

The funny thing is, that I live in the near of Leipzig.

  • kinda reminds me of the music from sonic

  • he looks SO FUCKIN' COOL here!! argh!

  • He looks like an entertainer from Blade Runner.

  • Doubtless he had more hair then (vis the Grammies of 85!) (Wig?)

Was TD in ORBITAL briefly whilst the lads were on holiday?! Respect TD Legend!

  • I had this on 12 inch back in the day and always loved it - was my favorite DB tune. Anyway - many years ago it astray. I've just found it again !! Fantastic. Although this arrangement is different - I prefer the original.

  • not so good.

  • I like this format a lot. It's quite stellar. Glad to see that Thomas is still doing it and doing it fine. Wonderful versions of great songs. Thanks.

  • Loved this wee tune since I first heard it as a B side on a 12" if I remember correctly.

  • han erså rar! I lave him though........

  • I missed this track back in the day, but it's instantly catchy & fresh. Great music doesn't age and it's good to see Thomas Dolby still peforming. Thanx for the upload.

  • TMDR - thank you

  • Very enjoyable. First time heard here, thank you Mr. Robertson.

  • cheers Frank

  • what is that thisng he makes his loops whit? I need that!

  • Don't know. Might be camelspace?

  • please please please has anyone got the Dave Stewart-Barbara Gaskin version of this-that version is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You can find it on their first CD, "Up From the Dark." Used copies are easy to get.

  • I can't believe I've just found this! Thomas Dolby was always profoundly soulful -"I'm like a cork in the ocean, and bobbing on the north sea" - and this is bang up to date. Thank You!

  • As a composer this stuff is great, and live! my god he really understands his equipment! I've got modern stuff and can't my head 'round it!

  • Release another anologue synth album such as "Golden age of wireless".Love your stripped down early stuff best.

  • I wouldn't call Golden Age or Flat Earth "stripped down"... the arrangements are plenty busy/dense. However the actual timbre of the albums is rawer and more in-your-face than some later work which is probably what you're reffering to.

  • I agree with Synthersizer! I'm exacly the same. (sorry if i don't spell correct:P, i'm from Sweden)

  • I Love this podcast. At first to be honest, i never liked Thomas Dolby when i heard hyperactive, Im more a Depeche mode, Kraftwerk fan, But after listening to this Podcast 1,2,3,4 etc... I like Thomas Dolby now.. Great tracks, These songs are now on my ipod.

  • Dolby's most famous tracks are also the LEAST representative. Definetely keep digging through his stuff, tons of gems.

  • Leipzig is still the favourite.

  • soooo damn excellent!

  • I'm soooo glad you're back. Your work sounds as good today as it did in the 80's. Never stop writing.

  • This clip and all the other podcasts are phenomenal, but I've just received my copy of the DVD and the version that kicks off the DVD is 100 times better. Really phenomenal DVD.

  • This is really beautiful. I'm so sad that I missed these shows.

  • i was wondering what this tune was when i saw the recent tour thanx! a beauty for sure!

  • Fantastic!...Thanks.

  • Superb - Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin also did an excellent version of this song.

  • I told my boyfriend that if Thomas Dolby actually went as far as to perform Hot Sauce at House Of Blues that he would have to stick a finger full of hot sauce up his butt right there at the show. Thomas Dolby proved to me that night that dreams really do come true and butts were burning.

  • This is a gorgeous rendition of this fine song. I was lucky to have been at the Spring show in Seattle to see it live.
