Reminds me of that tom and jerry episode where tom invited his friends over for a party and when it started it had that sort very fast speedy jazz piano double bass etc. Saturday evening puss it was called. Brilliant so fast!
Fantastic! I've been inspired to dust off my brushes and pull the old music stand from the storage closet in my basement. Who knows, in 20 or 30 years I may be able to play like Joe Ascione...
are you kidding me? there is tons of feeling in this playing , you just have to have the capacity to look beyond the speed. the phrasing is still dead on.
im just not on his jazz level - frnk is a monster guitar player - sometimes things like this go right by me becasue i wsih i could do it ! = take care
But it's not being played for listeners... It's a warmup - two guys back in the green room getting their hands and ears and brains revved up so that they can hit the stage warm and be sharp from the first song to the last. This is meant to be a conversation between the two players to get blood pumping - we're merely voyeurs because a guy happened to tape it.
You suppose they close to as far as they can in the warm-up so that the stuff they actually play in front of the audience will seem easy to them? In other words, this is them trying to go as far as possible.
One can only ask to play the music stand so well. That guy was amazing he was able to play the music stand with burshes and the guitar player was god this was amazing

FRANK VIGNOLA - absolutely incredible. In the same league as guys like Jimmy Bruno, Scotty Anderson and almost as good as Danny Gatton.

i know both Frank and Joe very well. They are both killers, great guys and great musicians. And yes, they do warm up like this.

This guy sounds better on that music stand that 99.999% of drummers with a regular trap set.
