Thanks buddy! Should fly this year.... Hopping for 7's will see maybe low 8's... Will have the power but with a true 28" and stock suspension will be a challenge....
As for fitting the 28s the normal mods of rolling the quarter lip and using the hammer on the inside of the wheel well... No big deal also using a 15x10 with 6.5 back space wheel will work properly for ya!
How much power does it put out on the motor? I have a little 410 windsor its been 6.35 with a 1.39 short time. AFR 205s and a solid roller ultradyne cam 683 across the board. 830 demon carb. It cost 10 grand to build it so. I will truly think about building a 427 later this next year. You have a bad ride. Keep up the good work.
Never dynoed this set up but is making about 750hp-775hp on motor with vp c12 mix 94 oct. pump fuel . The car runs 9.45@146mph on the motor in good weather with a 1.41 short (nitrous converter) that`s at 3000lbs race weight.
No dominator, No vaccum pump, No windage tray in the oil pan, With muffleurs, No aluminum rods, True stock suspension etc. with 28deg. of total timing and 94 oct. pump fuel it runs 9.65 @144mph on the motor.
for a turn key motor like mine you are looking at about $18,000.00 dollars. mid 9`s on the motor, mid to low 8`s on a 300hp nos. in a 3050lbs mustang. For $1,500.00 dollars more you upgrade to billet aluminum rods more compression bigger cam and you could run 8.00 maybe even high 7`s on a realy good chassis and a big nos pills.
well if you gave them the correct specs of your engine you will be more less up or down 2 jet sizes on the motor. On the nitrous it will be on the money but that all depends on your nitrous tunning. I am very satisfied using a pro system will buy their product again and I will also recomended it to my clients.
Hmmm...well I guess I'd have to do some more research. I just want a engine that's reliable and and has a good balance of hp and torque (500hp and 500lb/tq). I can put one together myself but would have to go to someone for the dyno tuning. Thanks for the insight though man.
Good luck with your project, propably better of with a 383ci for a well balance 500hp/500trq and you would have an exellent rod ratio your cylinder walls will take less of a beating and a very good accelerating combination. Hp and Trq is two different measures of an engine power but how do you measure the acceleration of an engine is another story!
First of I would not build a 427 windsor to only make 500 hp. I could build you a 408 windsor with a production block, hydraulic roller camshaft and to run on pump gas that will make an easy 550hp/550trq. Now as far as pricing goes I need more info like is this a EFI or CARB set up, do you want all 4340 internals, main support, long block or a turn key motor with dyno tunning included? There is alot of time involved in a design of an engine and there all custom built for a different application.
Sorry but I'm not asking for you to build one for me (thanks for the offer though!). I was just wondering what you think it would cost. I guess your right about the fact that I wouldn't need a 427 it's just that I saw a turn key crate 427w selling for $10,000 in a magazine and made about 540hp, and got the wheels in my head turning. I would go with an efi set up and the 4340 internals though deffinitly.
Well that`s about right as far as pricing goes, the only thing with crate motors they are built for who`s application??? I say you built an engine for the same money for your application. What I was trying to say that I wouldn`t build a 427ci to make 500hp is because a motor like that is far from being anywere close of being efficient , a street 347ci Hyd. roller could make 500hp. You could build a 347ci @ 500hp for maybe $7000.00 turn key.
