It's not just for Atheists, it could be anyone who hate hypocrisy, or just don't like mega-church things. Isn't everyone in Catholicism in a constant sate of guilt... it's like Judaism with worse snacks. My synagogue always supplied massive amounts of black and white cookies, though I haven't been there since the 1996, and my Hebrew School experience lead me directly to not having any religion... basically the one teacher who seemed like a bright guy described god as being everything in nature

What Darwin saw on his voyage was that contemporary creatures didn't resemble the ones found in the fossil layers, nor could they themselves be found in the fossil layers. Where did they come from? Darwin realized evolutionary change had to have occurred. This is macro-evolution. For example, large mammal fossils aren't found in any layers with dinosaurs. No bears, no deer, no bison, etc. Evidence for micro-evolution came later.

Darwin's life work proved macro-evolution had occurred. He was making the point in that letter that the clues to micro-evolution, or change within species, was unavailable in the fossil record. Try reading Darwin as a whole instead of quote mining him --you'd understand then.
And, of course, the questions he said he couldn't answer back then were eventually answered by 20th biologists, who you didn't bother to quote.

It sucks because he can admit it. All Christians, and every denomination picks and chooses from the bible. The labels just represent where they draw the line. To this day I've never seen or met a creationists that will argue the earth is flat or rebellious children should be put to death. I know plenty of Christians that support gay marriage
