  • it might work for a master with quick refleks and control of energidumb.

i would take my belt of and my jacket/shirt and confusing him with shirt tring entangle knife while i hit him in the forehead with my beltbuckle. if i chave time for it ofcourse othervise i would run. Aikido is dificult in real life because u have to be relaxed and that is hard when u are about to fight and get pump with andrenalin

  • I Really dont like the block he use. If you do only a little bit wrong the enemy is Directly behind you. And in a real self defence situation always something goes wrong (-;

  • aikido aikikai. kotegeshi

  • Reminds me of some self defense lessons and it is fun to train. However I would not dare to use it in a real fight. But it could be an option if someone is attacking another one and you get the chance to grab his hand. Once you grab it might work pretty well.

  • I know those guys I get taught karate by them.

  • A good technique to get used to is never pass a knife when training. Drop in on the ground and let them pick it up. You never want to train yourself to give a knife back.

  • well done ,

  • because I'm sure your attacker will comply with how he's supposed to behave and act in such a situation and not swing wildly and act erratically. These "instructional" videos are such a friggin joke.

  • doesnt look effective... dont forget that when you do this in real life.. the other person will resist when you grab them.

better off just surrendering and handing over whatever you got..... or be smartass and toss your wallet in the air and then poke his eyes when hes distracted

  • That would never work unless you had lighning fast reflexes. You would do better to just stay where u r grab his hand and punch him in the throat (and thats dumb).

  • hapkido have perfected the self-defense method especially with the knife and gun, im not saying that all of its techs work but the best techs r found in hapkido, check it out urself

  • That is exremely dangerous, maybe last resort, conered kinda thing. If the guy with the knife knows what he is doing, right after he thrusts he would pull back for another one, not leave his arm there for the guy to grab. The technique he shows I think has too much time between the him spinning away and him securing the knife. He would spin, the attacker would pull back for another stab or slash or whatever, and since he spun his back, head, etc is wide open.

  • you cant really learn from a video

  • VERY dangerous. Try to grab the knife arm of this guy:

But lets say you secure the knife arm. You lead the attacker by turning your body then spin right and do that take down. The problem is that take down can be countered by the attacker by moving behind this instructor while the knife arm is secured and violently pulling back. This will denying the take down and slice the hand.

  • All you experts, "that won't work", "should use legs", blah blah. What are you going to do stand there and get stabbed? The first choise for knife defense is run! But if cornered and down to the last resort, you need techniques like this that might give you half a chance at living. Any experience beats none at all.

  • CRAP

  • that will never work!too dangerous!only real thing is leg against knife, never, i say never use hands against knife!

  • This will work if the atacker is very dumb! Most ataccker will maintain their knives ocult and stabb you when you don't expect. Or they will try to grab and stabb, nobody will come like that. Just look to some videos of knife attacks here on youtube.

  • Most of these techniques are time tested. The Chinese and Japanese have been dealing with these types of attacks for centuries, and they have perfected methods of defense against such attacks.

  • how about if he will hit you from behaind?

  • i worked at a nightclub who's head doorman was a 3rd degree dan in jujitsu. he did that exact same move on some one at high speed. the attacker had no balance and was off his feet in a split second.

  • im not sure if that will work.

  • Have a little faith. Im sure if anyone attemts to stab him in slow motion they wont know what hit them!
