That was easily his best piece in the series, the judges are fools. It had great insight into a little known issue back at home, and made it relevant to the Australian audience by pointing out we are polygamous as well, we just hide it with affairs. It took a while but he got the great line from one wife about not wanting her daughter to follow her footsteps. 10/10 from this judge.

The judges are emotionaly inconsistant. Espically the women judge, she graded the video purely from a womens perspective, and took a personal view on the vid. Judges should not grade videos on personal things. The family obviously laughed and liked John, so why do the juges have to be so touchy and sissy about it? They have laughed at much stronger stuff.

It's stupid to think that just because John filmed a polygamous Muslim family that he was automatically buying into and perpetuating stereotypes. If anything, it demystified that notion of the oppressive male who locks up his subservient wives. Although the expression of the women's thoughts was clearly restricted, the people were real, they had a good sense of humour and had their own opinions especially that assertive, hostile woman).

David Caesar's such an idiot. "Blah blah blah camera work and sound"? I don't know what it is with the AFI and having this weird preconception that beautiful cinematography is at the heart of good film. The whole idea of Race was to produce raw, lo-fi but interesting docos from everyday Joe Blows (a bit of a YT precursor?).

It was my favourite one but it got the worst score! I thought he actually related to the family really well, had them laughing, showed the women's dissatisfaction without simply painting them as victims... go john.
