Indeed rumours go the Americans took the Lance to the US during Operation Paperclip.It is said the Lance is kept in the Pentagon in a vault. What is true of this story I don,t know, but after WW2 the USA became indeed the rulers of the world .Financially and military. I was in the Schatzkammer in Vienna and saw the Lance, (or maybe a replica of it) a few years ago. A very impressive artifact, I can tell you that. .

Let's go back to the day Jesus was crucified; He was killed because He was considered a criminal by the Romans and the Jewish Elders. It took more than 300 yrs before the first official Church was established and, in the meantime, Christians were fed to the lions in the coliseum. There were very few present on Calvary that would have attached significance to the lance, and it belonged to the Roman who used it on Jesus. I doubt it was saved at all. It likely lasted a while still in use by Romans.
