@rageagaintstheNWO a lot of big fans of Alien say this one ruined it and in a way they are correct. There never was supposed to be a queen, but in fact the xenomorph itself would infect it's prey and turn them into eggs (you can see this in a cut scene of Alien with Dallas being cocooned).

Plus the Alien is supposed to be very smart, Cameron kind of dumb them down, but he did achieve them not to move like people which Scott tried to do and failed at.

They both have their ups and downs.

@DMalenfant1 I don't think what it was "supposed" to be matters. The human-to-egg scene in Alien was removed, so the lifecycle wasn't established for audiences. His decision to make them have a queen worked very well, I think. Much better than simply converting humans to eggs.

As for how smart they are, that's up for debate, but saying the ones in Aliens were dumb probably isn't accurate. After all, they cut the power and tried multiple approaches to accessing the operations room.

And it's not like it would take much thought for that because many insects have hives and eggs. See, I hated Hudson when I was a kid for he was always crying or saying stupid things, but by watching Aliens a million times I learned that he kept breaking tension with jokes or complains, so when somebody talked him into his senses everyone else were ok. Then he got to save Newt from the facehugger and became a hero the rest of the time, until "we" lose him. Check how the movie's tone changes after that.

@chotzrary Hell yeah, women in Mexico, even before the Spanish came here (fuck them), have always been the fighting ones in stuff like keeping families togheter or even rising their children by themselves. The Americas' female strenght and courage is something we as men (from anywhere) can't match and that's why Jenette Goldstein could perfectly portray that kind of power in the screen. No other character could match that presence, even the "big guy" Drake or the "protective" Hicks.
