Et maintenant, la pire chose qui est arriver à la lutte professionnelle, vince mchmahon. - And now the worst thing ever happen to the professionnal wrestling, vince mchmahon.
Is it just me, or was Vince's ego a lot more in check back then? It just seems like he came off entirely different pre-1993 than he did in later years even before the Mr. McMahon "character."
@CombatSportFan definetly he but then again he just pulled off one the biggest gambles of his life i wouldn be to cocky either untill i knew it was all set in stone
It's probably just his character in the WWE..the creation of the "Mr. McMahon" persona...and also, I don't think a lot of people back then knew he actually owned the company, but rather he was probably some random announcer...
A lot of people, so I've read, say he is actually a very nice guy in real life.
Since NWA had Starrcade 1985 from 2 locations, the Greensboro, North Carolina Coliseum and the Omni in Atlanta, Vince McMahon wanted to show that WWE was the best in Sports Entertainment by topping them by doing 3 locations in the same night. Later on, NWA stuck it back to Vince by running a Clash of the Champions on TV for free at the same time as WrestleMania IV.
Wrestlemania and WWF just seemed to have 1st class feel to it back then. Everything from the wrestlers to production to the era in general. The same can be said for entertainment in general back then.
@Gamebox27 "Wrestlemania and WWF just seemed to have 1st class feel to it back then. Everything from the wrestlers to production to the era in general. The same can be said for entertainment in general back then." Although your comment is seven months old, I can't help but to totally agree with what you said. Indeed, WWF production had a 1st class feel back then. I believe the reason why wrestling in general is different now is due impart by the Internet and the exposure of the business.
When they do the WWF in space logo thing = CRAPPY WWE FILTERING of the original music I HATE WHEN THEY DO THAT and that is why I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A WWE BOX SET OF ANYTHING!!!
this was b4 ppv saw it on closed circut tv at the philadelphia spectrum when i was 9 with my late father stil have some of the collectible cups with a cartoon hulk hogan on them. the spectrum is bing demolished now 4 a retail complex. so sad. all i have now is the vague memories.
wm 2 was interseting....in that it was from 3 locations...with 6 different hosts...(mcmahon and susan st james from nyc, gorilla monsoon and cathy lee crosby in chicago, and jesse ventura and elvira in los angeles)
Wow, i feel so robbed. I have Wrestlemania 1&2 on a WWE tagged classics DVD, and this whole Ray Charles intro is missing! In fact there's a lot of parts that have been badly edited and cut out. Weird....
@weaponsigma Yeah, I think they used the Colosseum Home Video master. WM 1 and 2 were cut to hell on those original tapes. However, you don't have the stupid scratch logo, you don't have 'F' edited out of WW! =)
did you see the two towers from world trade center. Just imagine yourself traveling in the time and to warn all newyorkers that it will be an attack terrorism in 9-11-2001. God bless america and the whole that believe in freedom & justice. God bless the WWE.
Am I the only one who thinks that the WWF block logo is one of the most beautiful logo designs in graphic design history? It's right up there with Disney, Coca Cola, Batman...
and the animation in the beginning there, with the fireworks - cant do that today. you dont get the same look on computer...
No, you're not the only one, I really like it too. The WWF block logo has always been my favorite - all of the logos they've used since then have paled in comparison IMO.
It really is an excellent piece of design. You'll never see something like that ever again, because today graphic designers use computers and create logos from pre-made typesets... In the old days they would draw, paint and design the whole thing from scratch - even Wrestlemania's logo was drawn from scratch.
Anyone can make a "logo" today - throw a few letters together and call it a logo... nothing to do with design imo.
@hcvang Yea, that logo is one of the all time greats. And no matter how good a computer may be it never gets the job done as good as a real human can.
@extremechampion00 If you compare the animation Filmation was able to produce in the 70s and 80s to a modern action adventure animation series, it's obvious how all the special effects are just made on computer with a filter programme and everything is bought ready-to-use, rather than in the old days when there were animators who worked exclusively on special effects, and all those wonderful glittery effects disney used were done via backlighting and moire patterns. computer effects look so RAW
@ItsFrankieBoy I was thinking that years ago. What about the NWA rappers and nwa wrestling? I had a problem back then with the rappers. Who had the rights to that name?
