A 1943 penny is one of the most expensive coins because it was melted down during the allied war effort and very few remain. If that is a legit 1943 penny that is your key to retirement.
Yes, if you're referring to a copper 1943 penny - some were accidentally made when the machines making them switched production to zinc coated steel pennies. The residual copper remaining before the switch was enough to make a handful of the rare & scarce penny.
well i kinda didnt understand what you said either lol but what im saying is that its a year before 1943 and it has that wheat symbol on the back. is it still valuable?
I have a 1943 silver penny. Found it in the cash register when I was working at Burger King. I've also found a 1890's nickel (face was completely worn off so can't see date, and back was almost gone, just a "V" left), a 1943(?) Silver nickel, a Mercury Dime, a 1913 penny, a Buffalo nickel, and some other uncommon coins.
dude right before i got on i was looking in my dads coin collection he has one of those and i new they were relle rare but not enough to be worth 85000 thats awsome

there's actually steel Canadian pennies too. but they have copper coating so the only way to tell they are steel is with a magnet.

I didn't research, but I do know that nearly all USA coins are made with 2 or more metal alloys (components)
Zinc has been used in the production of various coins - the percentage used fluctuates from time to time
MariaGarcia281 4 years ago
What do you know about zinc quaters,I have one I think it was made in 1945 please reaserch for me.

An authentic 1943 'copper' penny shouldn't stick to a magnet

The largest penny in US history! I've never seen one in person.
I hear it's value is less than $30
of course, if it contains special markings or manufacturing errors, value goes up even more
MariaGarcia281 4 years ago
so how do i find out if the silver penny i have is worth 85k

chris2albers 4 years ago
It's either a regular penny that has been altered or not a real penny.
To my knowledge, 1943 is the only year these were made.
MariaGarcia281 4 years ago
