My God, did Patti Labelle butcher the US National Anthem. Jesus Christ... She could definitely hang with anybody else when she was in her prime, but now it just looks sad. She's at the point in her life and stop singing and enjoy what she's accomplished.
@flyersphan111 It was unreal. I actually met the one pilot. His brother-in-law is my ex's boss....he was telling us that they fly out of AC Airport, and once they get back to the airport they have like an army of cops that lead them back to the games or wherever in time for the start. He said they go like 100mph, and make it there in like 40-45 mins lol, insane
@BostonCreamDonut Why do they have to sing the Canadian national anthem when two American teams are playing? It can't be to cater to the non-american players, because, if that were the case, they'd sing a dozen different anthems. It wasn't the classiest thing, but they're in our country. It's not necessary to sing Oh, Canada when both the teams are American and they're playing for an American crowd.
@theolivetree95 Why, hmm maybe to honour the country where the sport was born - on the frozen lakes and ponds of Canada, thats what the winter classic is about going back to the humble beginnings of hockey in the great outdoors of CANADA. On top of that the game is broadcasted on CBC and Hockey Night in Canada, where Millions of Canadians watch, tag on the fact that most players in this league are Canadians, its as if the anthem of your greatest ally and neighbour bothers you that much. shame
@BostonCreamDonut I have no problems with Canada. I think it's a great country, just like the U.S. Also, if I had been in that crowd, I wouldn't have booed their national anthem. Still doesn't change the fact that it wasn't really necessary.
@theolivetree95 It was necessary its a league shared by two countries, don`t you know that the Sabres sing both anthems at every game no matter who`s playing.
@BostonCreamDonut Well said...couldnt have said it better myself. Although American leagues outnumber Canadian, Canada was where it all began. Ive been to Canada many times, and I love it there! Ive seen people play "pond hockey" its great...
@theolivetree95 They have sung "Oh Canada" all six years for the Winter Classic...its just out of respect, besides more than half of both rosters are Canadian.
@BostonCreamDonut Actually a lot of people THOUGHT we were booing the anthem...were not THAT bad. WE were booing the Rangers fans chanting. Hard to hear, but thats to truth...we dont disrespect like that. Im sure some DO, but the truth is the rangers fans chanting were the ones being booed.
@flyersphan111 yea...although on the new there was some immature punks that had to take it to the next level at Geno's...what a disgrace...people like THAT give the people of Philadelphia a bad rap...instead of just going, having a good time and whitnessing a once in a lifetime appearance...some scumbags had to go and do that. I hope they find those 3 assholes and prosecute them to full extend...makes me ill. Esp that someone would video tape it...sorry lol had to vent! haha
@Flygrl48 Yeah. I saw the video. I had a couple friends there that said that the Rangers fan started it though. To be honest, you don't go into someone else's city and talk shit. Especially not Philly.
@flyersphan111 See I heard different from another person I found out that was AT Geno's at that time. Said it was kinda of friendly back to back bantar, then all the Rangers fan said was pointing out the Rangers win, like rubbing it in his face. Then the other guy paid this homeless guy to squirt him with the window stuff...then took off from there. REGARDLESS, it should have never gotten to that point. I went to Chicago wore Phillies stuff the whole time and people were GREAT!!!!
@Flygrl48 And we did talk smack with other fans, but they came right back but it was firendly and we all had a laugh. No fists being thrown lol...just goes to show you people need to really step back and see whats really important in life. Im EXTREMELY passionate about the flyers, some call me "Obsessed"...so be it, but id never think about putting my hands on another fan...sorry I went on a rant there lol...but anyway, either way it was wrong...
