was that crash on 33 headed home? Thats a tough route after the miles you say you put on. 600 miles sounds like a stretch. You look like a decent rider. some times shit just happens. We've all "Brain Farted" a time or two (just mostly get lucky). Your lucky nobody crashed on the "Cow Pies" on the road through Caliente before you get got Bodfish.
It is clearly a decreasing radius turn, one of the common motorcycling traps that jump up and bite us. You were also following too close. And your lane positioning was wrong. You should have entered that turn closer to the outside of your lane. You should be practicing "late apex" cornering. Lots of classes and books out there on the subject. Get one, live longer.
Your road positioning was poor, you should have been nearer to the crown of the road to see further road ahead.
You were surprised by a sharp bend but if you had the confidence to 'lean it in' and not grab a massive handful of brake you would have made the bend.
Read up on road positioning and cornering techniques.
this is why when i go out, i ride at my own speed and don't try to be a hero keeping up with fellow riders who might be a bit faster than me (as what seems to be the case in this crash - trying to keep on the tail of a buddy). a track day is the time to better your skills, not on a public road.
You weren't paying attention... The rider infront of you clearly saw the turn, didn't you even see his BRAKE LIGHT and the fact that he was starting to turn?
Im sorry...but you weren't paying attention to the road....or your other riders. THAT is why you CRASHED.
Another factor may have been 600 miles in 30 degree weather. Perhaps you were cold and not thinking properly in addition to not being able to see. Thanks for sharing the video.

All other factors agreed,however,
Your road positioning was poor, you should have been nearer to the crown of the road to see further road ahead.
You were surprised by a sharp bend but if you had the confidence to 'lean it in' and not grab a massive handful of brake you would have made the bend.

Other Risks:
1. Riding on an unfamiliar road.
2. Riding too close behind another vehicle. (Minimum distance should be 2 seconds.
3. Not applying proper technique when entering a curve.
4. Riding in a group
5. Other factors:tire wear, breaks wear, proper fitting riding gear, etc...
The more factors of risk introduced to ourself while riding, increase the likelyhood of a "crash".
