Pretty fair assessment of Tebow's Senior Bowl-the worst game he has ever played by far. Obviously the Denver Broncos think he can be an NFL QB, and if there's any way that he can work it, will it, practice it, he will be one. Have you ever seen any other tape on Tebow?
@fancy34734 Reviewed almost every game he has played since his sophomore year. The throwing motion and almost every technique aspect is just all wrong. I'm not doubting him though, will have some time to sit and learn. Like the situation and heart. Tons of work to do.
@ Big9Dummy everyone has an option on Tebow. Mel Kiper nor Todd McShay have NEVER PLAYED in the NFL yet they're allowed 2 find his weaknessess. Tebow has a long way 2 go. He WON'T BE an NFL QB. That's not a knock on Tebow's Character. Just the truth. He's a great Kid. But that doesn't mean his game can't be analyzed. Stop being so Bitter.
You my friend are an idiot! What gives you the right to tell Tebow what he's doing right and wrong? Have you won 2 National Titles and a Heisman? I'm going to say probably not. For you to criticize his arm strength Is down right RETARDED! Tebow is gonna do fine when and where ever he goes. People said he couldn't be the starting QB at Florida, and look at what he did! Tebow is gonna be ready for the NFL and show all you nay-Sayers up.
You're an even bigger idiot. Collegiate accolades don't mean squat in the NFL. The criticism is based on what NFL scouts have been saying about Tebow for years. This guy is only reiterating what scouts have been saying. Tim Tebow is not an NFL QB. Tebow played for a simplified system where he has predetermined reads. Historically, system QB's have no success in the NFL. Get your facts straight before making stupid comments.
look at the video... his recievers had like 3 dropped passes and he had very little time to get rid of the ball... Tebow is a winner and has been all his life... he has already shortened his delivery and will be a great quarter back at the next level
Not this video, which means jack sh$t. Florida did try to change his motion. It worked until game pressure. Once he had to do it under pressure, he reverted to old habits
The same "experts" who said Jamarcus Russell would be the next Donovan Mcnabb are now saying Tebow will be a bust. FUCK THAT! I hate the Gators but Tebow is a winner
Another very talented player who never had to work hard and then you pay him millions.
TimeTebow will only be a bust if he is drafted high. If he drafted second or third or fourth round, and in three years he develops into a good back up or starter, then so be it
he wasn't trying to run in the senior bowl, he was trying to prove he could be a drop back passer and not have to rely on his feet. His line at the senior bowl wasn't giving him that much time though.
so should we dismiss every power runner in the SEC? because if Tim Tebow can't run in the NFL yet be a successful runner in the SEC then I guess we should dismiss every other power runner in the SEC.
There have been plenty of NCAA players that were power runners in college and didn't make it big in the NFL. And those were pure FB and HB's that do well or make the cut. Tebow is not a pure power runner.
LeRon McClain ran for 900 yards in the NFL and ran a 4.88, I doubt Tebow runs any slower than 4.7, probably in the 4.6 range. And the system Meyer runs, Tebow had designed runs, with a lead blocker, its just he was taking a direct snap instead of a handoff. He doesn't have great top end speed but he is deceptively fast in the 10-30 yard range.
But it's as you said, it's under Meyer's system which pro teams don't use. Not to mention the wildcat was not successful this past season because it has been figured out by the NFL teams.
but whose to say he wouldn't be successful taking handoffs instead of a direct snap, following a blocker just like he had at UF? We won't know until its tried out. As for the Wildcat, There was never was nething to figure out, Was an old formation.Teams still have trouble with it though, mainly from the Dolphins, it would work better with someone that can run up the middle and be a threat to pass, but Dolphins had some success basically saying "we are going to run it, and you try and stop us"
When the blocker is running faster than the RB, there's trouble. Are there plays designed to follow the blocker, sure, but it's all about finding the crease between the block and have that burst inside. Tebow won't be playing college kids. LB on average run a 4.5 so they will shoot up on the gaps.
and then theres guys like Brandon Jacobs, there is just a big of a list of big guys that have succeeded that have failed, its the same with every position. Im not saying give him the ball a majority of the game, but have like a Craig Ironhead Heyward type role, a guy who was like 280 pounds and had success running with the saints.
tebow has burst, but yes it does take him a step to get to top speed, you have to remember he was lined up in shotgun formation in college, as a runner he will be lined up at a similar length from the los and have time to get the speed to hit the gap, the average lb does not run a 4.5, they run in the 4.6-4.8 depending on olb or mlb. Only one linebacker ran a 4.5 in last year's draft, curry who didn't do so well, guys like Cushing (pro bowl) ran a 4.7
i wouldnt say he got caught easily in college, he had around 3000 career rushing yards at UF, 57 tds avg 4.2 a carry, im not sure if that includes getting sacked or not. Last season he had 6 games where he had a run that went 20+ yards
Oh, I'm not counting the teams he played against. That's a different animal all together. In the Senoir Bowl practice and game when he did run, he was easily caught.
I went to all the practices and the Senior bowl, he wasn't trying to run, he was trying to prove him can be a traditional drop back quarterback. The only thing he did close to running was to get back to the los and not take a sack
Most of them were pass related, but there were time he did attempt to run but would have caught in the backfield. And in the actual game he tried to run twice but was still caught.
and even if he was trying to run, you can't judge someone off of two attempts, most runningbacks get stuffed on their first 2 or 3 attempts, or get 2 or 3 yards at best, its rare for someone to get a big gain the first time they run the ball in a game
well I went to most, not all, i stayed with my relatives in semmes which is not to far from mobile, but i already said previously he wasn't trying to prove he could run,
Wait till you see the combine results to determine if he fits at Tight End or H-Back. If he works out well then I say take him in the 3rd round. But he is an very rough prospect and that doesn't warrant 1st, 2nd, or even a 3rd round grade.
@godzilla1007 It seems that people are destined to hero worship Tebow. I'm gonna wait till I hear about his team workouts and combine results. Yeah, Danny Wuerrful was a complete disaster. At least teams had the sense to wait till the 4th round to draft him.
Agreed. I can understand if people love the guy because he won titles for their team. But to blindly say he would make a great QB in the NFL, well then they have just been too busy drinking up the kool aid.
So, Tim Tebow is essentially like an offensive line prospect; a guy that if he doesn't work at the position you draft him for you can move him around? That's a good way to describe him. I also thought the Big Ben esque upside was a real good comparison too; both are stocky, powerful guys with big arms. But as you said, Tebow needs to streamline almost everything about his passing skills. Nice video.

I'd be interested to see a breakdown of how Tebow's form has changed since the draft, based on his start at Oakland and whatever else is available.

Tim Tebow as a powerback in the NFL
/watch?v=qsS3nlGbqrE
Watch him run, he doesn't just get his yards by running people over, he has deceptive speed, he can have success being a power runner in the nfl
dwid1984 1 year ago
I doubt that since he can't run past some seniors in the senior bowl.

Tebow is not an Iron Head or even an Alstott type player. In college, sure, in NFL, not likely. Even those guys had the initial burst to hit the gap.

Tebow has long strides (6'3) so his speed is underrated. Hes going faster than he looks, deceptively fast

If Tebow can caught easily by college players in the open field, NFL players will catch up with him quickly.
