@quikstang2 i actually think the snare sounds quite sicknasty. and the camera is primo qualityas well. definitely watching all of these in a row. this is like the 5th of hoever many there are
@svelle37 yea i saw em live in norfolk virginia - live they are accurate performers and have good sound quality - i like adlers bass drum too man - but two things are my favorite - his snare (sounds like a pistol - tight and loud snare) and his china/crash - he uses during heavy parts/breakdowns - it sounds like the ocean dude its sick.
@quikstang2 Dude, on all these vids of chris at this clinic, how mad are you that on almost if not every video, someones complaining about the snare sound?
@jakubrox19 Not mad really. It's kinda annoying though. I mentioned in the description it was recorded with a point and click camera, so it should be common sense that most of it is going to sound bad. There's not really a need to comment on the sound.
Don't complain about the base. It'd be nicer if I could hear it but to be honest I watch the videos so I can see how fast the man moves, I know what all the friggin songs sound like.
Anybody can play this with triggers but without them it´s much more challenging. Especialy the foot work from 0:27 - 0:48. Check out my cover of Reclamation from Wrath if you like :)
For everyone who is wondering, the fill starting at 0:49 is called a linear fill. Doubles over doubles. Two on the hands, two on the feet, played in groups of four. Very common fill that Chris (and many other metal drummers) use.
@SpartanCarver Good tip. Unlike most other drummers, Chris will often play this while leading with his left hand, because he's left handed. You can see it in the videos, and you can hear it in respect with how his gear is placed.
@SpartanCarver oke thx. but how many types of fills are there actually and where do you get this information from. I'd like to learn more about the instrument I play ;)
@SpartanCarver Hey me too, never took a drum lesson. It's indeed not necessary with the amount of usefull information that is available on the internet. Do you play with double base, and if you do, what do you find the best setting for the springs, the footboard position, the beaters and every other variable for fast playing? With my former peddals I could play all the fast double base stuff, but I fail horribly with my new paddels, because of the settings,
@SpartanCarver Thx :D! I will try this setting out, but can you explain the difference betwee low tension vs high and between the beater set far from the basehead vs close, and how those two combined effect how you play the double base?
It kinda upsets me that in this video @ 0:49 he plays doubles over doubles but on the album recording he plays doubles over like 36ths notes or something on the double bass, it makes me think he cant play his own songs almost... : ( and that bothers me cuz i am a huge adler fan
@TheMetalkid13 I think it is doubles over doubles on the record because that is the fill that everyone uses to make it seem like they are moving really fast, but in reality they are only playing the same notes over and over again at a fast pace. I could be wrong, but I think it's what you have in mind and how you interpret it when you listen to it. =]
ummm do you mean 32nd notes?....if you don't know the correct terms, are your sure you know what your talking about? everytime i listen to the album version of this song, I only hear power 4's / quads. If I'm wrong I'll admit it straight away, but I don't think that there is a time sig of "36th" notes
@rickyjames0 it can be done, but most usually it isnt just because 32nd notes are such a bitch to count, and you can always double the bpm and decrease the value of the note
2:30 the running man dance....chris ur a boss...no ...ur a god!!!

That is also a linear fill. Any fill with interplay between the hands and feet is linear.

@tommyXBOX360: Footboards low, medium spring tension, high tension in the bass drum head, beaters about 4-5 inches from the drum head.
