  • Nice hit downie! keep it up!

  • I remember this game. I was there and every person except the person who got the goal was distracted by that hit. When the goal buzzer went off the arena was just like " what what just happened." It was pretty awesome.

  • what a downie.

  • Downie is the biggest douchebag in the league. He is out to hurt people, not to play hockey. He couln't care less about the puck, all he wanted was to lay Lovejoy out.

  • hahaha clean hit even though downie is dirttt. he didnt leave his feet this time!! like he did with mcammond

  • What is the difference between an unnecessarily aggressive but legal hit and a hit with the intent to injure? Not much. It doesn't look like he left his feet until after impact, that ones on physics. As a Lightning fan I remember being mad at Chris Neil for a similar, yet legal, hit on Victor Hedman. The play is like a QB in the NFL hanging his receiver out to dry. Lovejoy was in the wrong place at the right time, for a streaking Downie.

  • @tampacop special thanks to jimmy

  • @tampacop I thought you were telling a joke at first :/

  • The lightning will win the Cup. Super hit!

  • Clean hit. He left his feet a bit, but shit like that happens. Great hit. Pittsburgh fans take after their captain. Little whiny bitches.

  • Great Hit!!!!!! Go Bolts!!!!!!

  • I hate hockey but I must say, that was sick as hell.

  • Clean hit all day every day

  • Downie is a monster, i love that kid

  • Dirty hit! Right to the head.

  • thats not a penalty

  • get rid of YOU, type MYPRIZE in youtube

  • These kind of players forget the point of the game is to SCORE GOALS. Hitting is just part of the game that hopefully HELPS your team. In this case Downie's only intent was to HIT and not to get the puck and try to score which lead to his team BEING SCORE ON. Good job Downie.

  • if it's a big hit these days, it's illegal

  • You know what, Downie may have committed an illegal hit, but I think it was just retribution for St. Louis getting his teeth cracked and having to have double root canal emergency surgery after the game. It's the principal.

  • Not the first time he's done it.

  • I seriously hate Downer but to me, that hit is borderline legal. The only arguable thing would be that he did leave his feet somewhat early but Lovejoy had his head down. There have been far far worse hits that weren't under so much scrutiny and weren't penalized. All in all, borderline but not suspendable.

  • Quit being pussies and stop complaining about big hits, imagine hockey without hits and fights, you cant..

  • As long as there are morons behind the boards applauding and screaming for more blood, these kind of hits will continue. As for the NHL, they proved they are a minor league and are acting like one with this 1 game suspension...

  • This has similarities with the Torres hit. I don't understand why this received a one game suspension.

  • what difference does it make if a guy's head is down or not?

i hate when morons use that as justification for hits like these

sorry, that's not how hockey should be played and guys

like downie should be tossed from the league

  • I hate Downie but that was a clean hit. Lovejoy had his head down, looking the other way.

  • he fell on his back he didnt get hit. it sounded loud cuz the other guy hit the boards trying to hit him. FAKE.

  • This isn't the first time this worthless loser has felt the need to jump into the air to attempt to injure an opponent. Real tough guys can make the hits thunderous but clean. It takes a real pansy so need to jump at the head.

  • hey pittsburgh, call the wambulance

  • Why is Downie not suspended for this hit? Clearly left his feet. I don't understand the NHL anymore

  • @DJKJSeph Got 1 game.

  • @Andragon90 Thanks Andragon90 Did not see that.

  • He's got the strength to take him down, but he had to jump in with the elbow. Idiot.

  • @Andragon90 That's exactly what I've been talking about on hockey forums lately. The fact that Downie had enough speed and force going that he could've put a perfectly legal check on the guy and the crowd would've gone crazy, but no, he had to jump and lead with his elbow, and for what? Was he trying to kill the guy? What's the point of destroying a guy like that when you can make a clean hockey hit and it would probably have a better result on the play. These guys just wanna be glorified.

  • Looks like we're going to be invading Canada for launching a Downie Missile.

  • Gotta hate the bias of the announcer. He knows as soon as the second angle of the hit is shown that it's illegal and stops talking about how Lovejoy's head was down.

  • this is a dirty hit no doubt compare to torres. While torres basically have no choices but hit on seabrook cause he got his headdown. While this one is a charge, leap elbow its a no doubt headshot dirty hit. Downie had options to NOT charge and NOT leap and hit him squrae onto his chest downie *5"10 n 195lbs vs lovejoy *6"2 215lbs i see no reason why he have to leap and charge at him WHILE HES STANDING!

  • @rickythereach22 Prob ur team..... If that was Dan Carcillo erey1 would wanna kill him. CArcillo = 1 of the most talked about players... and why???? as a Philly Phan, Carcillo can skate half decent, but (Donald Brashear) would murder him in a fight

  • He leaves his feet and leads with the arm. That's rule 48

  • That fucking piece of shit. If Downie was on fire and burning to death, I wouldn't piss on him to put him out.

  • @chuppachoppa LOL

  • @chuppachoppa haha y it was a clean hit.

  • @chuppachoppa Really though? Really? What are you even talking about. Quit with the hate, especially on 4:20. Thumbs if you agree

  • @chuppachoppa no one cares who you would or wouldn't piss on.

  • @chuppachoppa I think it's funny that you even care enough what these neanderthals do to get your panties in a bunch and use such language.

  • illegal hit much downie?

  • @gndcd402 no. shoulder to chest. go play tennis bud.

  • @SnipinGin0z You're not serious... unless you're confusing chest with forehead. He left his feet with his arms up. It wasn't a blindside but he definitely got his head.

  • @10inchesdeep thats old time hockey. get with the movement where the NHLPA and such are screwing the fucking game over so badly, you can barely hit someone without the league fining you. you cant even slash or lift anyones stick anymore and thats bullshit.

  • @gndcd402 its called keep your head up. Number 1 rule of hockey.

  • @gndcd402 It's what he does.

  • :O Wow, thats a hit.
